Penguin 3.0 is rolling out?

And how do you explain all these mom and pop sites that have done everything accordion the Google webmaster guide and still get fucked out of the index, Content is only important for conversions, NOT for SEO!

I don't explain all those mom and pop sites as I'm not a mom and pop site guy. My sites are all original content in the business and finance niches and are thousands of pages targeting tens of thousands of KWs; I don't have issues when these black and white animal Google updates happen.

They rank just fine and I know not to just rely on one end of SEO so I also do off site SEO... heck I own several services that provide off site SEO.

I believe in common sense SEO where you do not put all your SEO in one basket whether it is on site or off site and for the last 8 years my sites have been heavy content and have ranked with few bumps in the road along the way. The first site I ever made (ugly as all get out) ranks today for about 400 KWs as it is a smaller site and I knew nothing about SEO when I made it... I just knew what your average person would be asking if they searched Google and wrote accordingly.

Sure, you can make a site rank with just off site and you can rank a site with spun or non original content as I have seen both but I know for a fact that you can write original content, lots of it, and rank sites for years with little off site and make a strong living at it.

I see the arguments here however the quality of your content also relates to the aims and objectives
of your site. If your sites sole purpose is to generate add revenue you don't want good content.
You want them clicking your ads not sitting there reading your crap.
But if you're selling a high ticket item quality, trust and knowledge are important. I'm not worried about
a couple of made for adsense sites sitting above me, my site still probably still generates more revenue
than yours which is why I can afford to pay google to stick ads on your site.
Spam sites will come and go but I'll be bubbling in the top ten for years.

I don't know what it is, but one of my moneysites ranked for G Page # 2-3-4-5-7 etc. with several articles. And now ALL of it is gone. The only KW I rank is on page #18 (main one-word KW). I recently did these 2 changes: 1) removed all navigation menu completely 2) noindexed archives/author pages etc. 3) bought some crazy package for the YT Video I embed on the site, which contains link to the site in the description. Was it the reason for the loss of ranking? (No manual penalty in GWT) __________________________P.S.: I never did any spam links on it, just manual links here and there, very natural..

I noticed that my site dropped to N/A i thinked it was google dance but it just wont come back its 3-4 days passed and nothing.
It's multiniche site, other post with same ranking strategy is ranking high no drops. It's not penalty i know, it's was happening before with same keyword it drops to n/a then come back after a month now again same but don't know will it be again month who knows.

Some my sites have been jumping like hell +/- 10 positions for the last few days. Don't think this is Penguin though, more like Panda. And maybe it's just PR is about to get updated.

Same here, facing big jumps, it happens on daily basis, within 24 hours I go few times from #16 to #29 and so on. Don't know what to say.

My sites have been jumping as well, some by 100% in terms of overall impressions according to Google Analytics. Whatever update they did I'm liking it so far...

this sounds very interesting...never thought of it before

I don't see Any changes in my site , No Changes on my site ranking. Still on the same..

That or we just make smarter software.

^^^^^^^^^^^ This.

Nothing really new for a couple of years. I'm in discussion with 2 software companies now one of whom is already a very well known SEO automation application creator. New tools that might well (if implemented in the right manner) carry automated SEO into the next generation.

So many great ideas. Google's move towards a slightly (just slightly.... very slightly in reality) higher emphasis on content opens more doors for sensible automation than it closes.

LOL hahaha blackhat webmasters worst nightmare

Not even slightly - not even a little bit - not at all.
Google have hardly scratched effective SEO.
I read of all these whining webmasters who claim to be White Hat QQing into their servers "Why me - I never made a link..boo hoo"

You see a lot less of that on sites like this that promote effective SEO.
Google WM forums and Moz forums are full of the badly informed and poorly served webmasters being conned by their "homeopathic promotion" techniques who were wiped out by Penguin

Moz - the home of homeopathic SEO
Spend a lot of money to learn "White Hat" SEO - to create expensive sites and promote them at great cost... still struggle to rank - and STILL get hammered by Google.
That's the truth of it for most people.

White Hat is the con.

It seems to be stabilizing for me over the last couple of days. Finally got a client to the first page after 7 months because (heavily spamming) competitors dropped.

But you claimed that you need "quality content" for the bots, that isn't the case at all, all these updates are nothing more then a shuffel of the index, if you really belief that it has anything to do with yuour content you're just not testing enough.

Sure there are some tweaks Google is making every year but i'll bet my life on it that the algo isn't that much different as is was last year or the year before, sure some variables have changed, they put back the sandbox and EDM don't count as they used to.

But in the core of the algo nothing has changed, but wghen Google does a shuffle a view months before the year figures go out, they leak some BS info, webmasters belief the propaganda (like great unique content for seo) and think Google is God and oversees everything they do.

But if you test the things that Google claims you can't do anymore you will see that 75% of the claims made by SEO people, whitehatters and google are nothing more then propaganda, why you think the updates are always in the summer? Because a lot of people that lost there rankings will hop over to Adwords making the shareholer happy.

Cus in the end it's all about making the shareholders happy.

I've been tracking one of my finance sites today and it is weird what is going on. It has gone from position 9 to position 21, then back to 11, then 44, then 5, then 20 and the last time I looked today it was at number 10. Who knows where it will be tomorow?

It's a 3 year old site, has over 60 pages of content, however I have been doing some various Linkbuilding stuff over the last few weeks.

But you claimed that you need "quality content" for the bots,

I'm not entirely sure I made that claim but I do know I said that you will not ever go wrong with quality content. Ardley216 just above shared my thinking and also is more correct in the way he put it.

But no matter who will write, how many times will be seen, 95% of the people will continue to use low-quality content and hope to not be caught very soon. And threads on any new update from G will create a huge bubble of interest even if people refuse to take any practical advice from such threads.

It's a pity.
