Google "waiting period" after May 14 payday update?

I can understand what you are saying BB. Well this randomness is now inside the algo and you can't do anything. What I see is sites that don't respond for 1 complete month suddenly appear on page 1. Then I see sites that are progressing nicely and suddenly some shit happens and they are nowhere to be seen. The only way out of this randomness is to create more sites, so at the end of day you will have some sites ranked. Creating 1 site in 1 niche is not the way to go. Create 10 sites on same niche and see how they respond. 301 the not-so-well performing sites to the highest performing site. That's what I am doing these days.

Another thing. There was a guy who created "how this site is ranking type thread". That site was also following the same method. They created 5-6 sites and build links on them. Then they redirected all the sites to 1 single site that was performing best among them.

Seems like a shit tons of work. The time could be invested in promoting your site in other traffic verticals such as social media or even experimenting with paid traffic (not having money is not an excuse because this kind of SEO "setup" will be as expensive)

An interesting thing that im seeing in my sites is that i can rank perfectly well for long and very longtails in top3 (kws with less than 100 searches a month) but for my main kws is truly a PIA to get them to page 1. They are all in 2nd page for their main kws for many months and they cant get to page 1 eventhough the competition is truly a joke.

Also another thing that I am thinking is that MAYBE i should foscus in ranking in hundreds or thousands of longtails in page 1 rather than trying to rank for 1 kw eventhough that would mean a lot more work. My reasoning would be that if instead of ranking in top3 for a 20k searches kw, i could rank in 100 kws top3 with 10-100 searches each.

This may mean that maybe the seo game is jus changing to targetting longtails than just a handful of main high searched kws IMHO.

Let me do an update. I have 10 projects I've been working on lately and the only thing I can say for a fact is SEO has changed DRAMATICALLY these past few months.

So much so, I think it's time to change it's name from "SEO" to "SEOWTF".

Because I've been reading forums like crazy, been doing my own testing, and forgive me for saying, but my findings show that Google has successfully "broken" SEO. There is a new and obvious degree of randomness that I simply can't account for no matter what I read or do.

PBN links that use to rank my sites #1 in less than 6 weeks, now it's taking months and it's like sites reach a certain point, than some random ass shit happens and everything just goes apeshit. Some sites move to page 1 for a few weeks then back down to page 3 and stay there for a month no matter how many links I build or how perfectly I do everything. I've tried mixing in socials, diversifying links with GSA, and I'm getting very very close to saying something I thought I'd never say.... which is "SEO is broken". Not "dead", but "broken".

I'm curious if there are ANY people on this forum in moderate to competitive niches who have managed to rank a site #1 since mid may?

I have 1 competitor in 1 niche, the guy hasn't built a backlink in over 6 months and is ranking strong #1 on Google for more than 50 keywords. Meanwhile I'm building more and better links, completely relevant to my niche, and I can't outrank this mfkr no matter what I do. The ONLY thing that guy has that I don't is an older domain. But he has literally NO socials and NO recent backlinks OR content at all.

I know there are people who are gonna read this and be like "wtf dude, it's not SEO that's broke it's YOU", but I just want to hear from **1** person who's been trying to rank new sites since the update and has managed to grab a #1 spot. For a moderate to competitive keyword. Because I haven't seen anyone post any shots of #1 rankings. It also seems like there is a huge fog over SEO forums lately. Like there are certain people denying everything and have said, "as long as Google exists, so will SEO". But I'm starting to think that less than .00001% of marketers have any clue wtf is going on.

My case studies won't be finished for another month. And eventually I'll get some screenshots up. I actually planned on posting screenshots last week but NOTHING significant is happening. SEO was NEVER perfect but it DID have a certain degree of consistency and predictability. Something I'm just not seeing as of late.

I'd really love to see some more people chime in and update because SEO seems to have turned into russian roulette these past few months.... and I wanna know wtf is going on.

Guys, quick question about this waiting period update. How many links are your building directly to your new websites ? I think this could be the issue.

I'm doing a test right now, where I'm ONLY pointing 5 quality web 2.0 (with 4 quality unique articles on each) and 5 high PR guest posts to my money site (so tier 1), which isn't a lot and shouldn't get my new website in the waiting period. Then as tier 2, I'm going to spam a large amount of blog posts to these tier 1 links (which won't be in the waiting period either since they are coming from aged domains). Then spam some GSA links to tier 2.

Anyone tested this before ?

Thanks so much this is very generous of you to share this information. I was scratching my head and going back and forth on how to handle multiple cities for a niche. And adding suburbs and villages I didn't seriously consider when WebDev mentioned it, but I can see how they could really help for larger cities.

Yes, it's really good to get some positive feedback on how to do something successfully

The real danger with "local directory" type sites is that they can easily become large-scale duplicate content, with only the suburb being different

The general opinion is that a sub-domain is treated by Google as a separate site - so this may be the success factor, and preventing a single site, duplicate content issue

I want to ask people who managed to rank sites without churn burn method after May update, what anchor text ratio you are using?

Hi guys, would it be appropriate to do a 301 redirect of my old penalized(deindexed from google) site to my new site? Would the penalty pass on to the new domain as well?

The answer is 'yes'. It will pass the penalty. Just can't believe how many of you think it's perfectly fine trolling a thread for questions unrelated to the topic. It can't be difficult to click on big f******ING button called 'New thread'

Same thing here, but I think the 'holding period' starts from when you start to build links. Built a site in January, did nothing, it ranked between 140-150 for main keyword. Added high pr links around May 30th, site shot to 20 in Google, now it's stuck between page 3-5 and nothing is shifting it. Threw a few more links at it but it won't break past #20. It's been almost 3 months since the first links were built. Now it's a decision of, should i just wait and see what happens, or build a few more links.

If I wait, Google could see this as a churn and burn attempt because no further links have been added. If I build more links, it could do more harm than good!

I'll probably wait until after 3 months and then blast a few more high pr/relevant links

Don't quit I would say. Had few friends who ditched their sites after not seeing the results. Wait is now a part of the game.

Thanks for your f******ING response and suggestion! I needed an answer to my query and I'm glad I got it. There were guys talking about 301 redirect and thus I thought it would be appropriate to put across my doubt! If it was trolling, then I'm afraid you've just supported it. Thanks but no thanks!

It depends on the type of penalty. Sometimes it will pass very soon, sometimes after few weeks/months and in some cases, it never pass. You never know without trying :)

this thread here explains a part of the sandbox process...

Someone is obviously hurt and taken it personally. Not a problem..More than a pleasure to have enlightened you that ALL 301s pass the penalty and it isnt related to waiting period being discussed here. As far as trolling is concerned, obviously you haven't read the whole thread ..man up and accept that its wrong post and move on.

Hi, I think you are talking about my thread. That guy had the exact same site with different names and had backlinks from each one pointing to the other. He ranks at number 1 every time. I think he also has PBN links as well.

Couldnt agree more on this point. There is an apparent RRF aka Random Ranking Factor built into Google Algo. This isnt new but existed even since the early days of SEO. Some argue its RRF and some suggest it just is one of those things with all softwares, never near perfect. Hence we often come across sites that are crappy but rank the hell out of clean sites which whatever you seem to do-just dont rank..

Yes, I think that's it. He has like 50 websites for that one niche, and I guess uses PBN links, and then focuses on the one that increases in rank. All I know is he uses PBN links with a few thousand spammy links for diversification and it works great for a HUGE keyword.

I'm pretty sure random factor is just more important then anything else now. Also keywords are splitted into 2 categories: adwords profitable, adwords non-profitable. Guess which ones are "frozen" ? :)

Seeing as you're ranking a page.
Isn't it much easier to make 50 pages on a website and figure out which ranks best then to pay for that many websites?

It's too early to tell you're already drawing conclusions from a system that was launched a few months ago or noticeably at the very least.
I'd say if things stay this way you're probably right but I still don't get why google woulden't want sites to rank ''fast'' as that's basically bad for google themselves.
