Yep. I'm doing it. This thread is happening.
I have another thread here. I began trying to build an income with PPD but ran into many problems along the way. I finally came to the realization that if I want to build something, I should offer a quality service and create something that will last. So why not attempt to profit from something I do every single day? Web design.
The History:
I am 24, from Texas, and have a baby girl on the way in late October. In 2009 I got into IM after my father had great success in SEO. I never had that success, but have made a little money from it over the years. I've been toying with Photoshop for about ten years now, but I've never really done anything more than tinkering. That being said, I have had some great feedback on my latest work. I've already explained my background in my other thread so I want to keep this simple so I'm not being too repetitive.
The Plan:
The idea is to offer free web design services to businesses in need. I will monetize this by requiring my clients to use my hosting to get their free design. My price will be either $35 monthly, or $175 for the entire year, which boils down to $14.59 per month. Either way, I will stand to make $175+ on each design, the first option will just pay out slower, but more.
I can bust out a design in 8-14 hours. And I am more than willing to spend 14-16 hours a day working for that money. If I can manage to make two sales a week, I will make more than a minimum wage job. (A minimum wage job is all I can get in the town I currently reside in. 4,000 people. Mostly seniors. Nothing but fast food and convenience stores here.)
That being said, I am not the best at CSS and I know nothing of JavaScript. So I have teamed up with my partner from Coders Point who will be doing the coding of all my web sites for $35 each, making my profit $140 for yearly subscriptions, and still substantially more for month to month clients.
(The month to month plan will become cheaper after 6-9 months. It will most likely drop to the $14.59 per month price.)
The Action:
I have already created my website. You may find it at hxxp://w3.neodism.com. (If this is against the rules to post, please warn me or remove my link. I have a Twitter set up, and also a Facebook page. I am going to run a Facebook ad campaign with my $50 credit from GoDaddy, beginning tomorrow.
I am using Facebook mainly (and Twitter as a substitute) to find small businesses with ravished websites. Currently, I have not contacted any of them. I will begin doing this first thing in the morning when I wake at around 9am. I intend to contact 100 businesses minimum each day via Facebook. Reason being, businesses are more prompt to check their Facebook because it is a marketing outlet for them. Small and local businesses do not deploy email as a marketing tactic very often and usually would only expect spam in their inbox anyways.
I have posted one ad on a buy, sell, trade group with 10,000 members on Facebook, but to no avail. Also, through another project I am helping a friend with (that nets me only $50/month +100ml of vape fluid) I have attained a list of 718 vape store owner's emails that I will use. I will send them each a personal message after taking a look at their website.
Craigslist is an option, as well. I just don't know how to use it to my benefit yet. I don't know where to post.
The Grand Finale:
My baby is coming and I spend every moment from I wake until I sleep thinking about how I am going to provide for her. Not only that, I've been taking action by getting everything set up. I feel terrible that my love is so innocent and damn cute and I can't even give her the things she needs, such as a house with a nursery for the baby. The things I promised seven months ago that I would make sure were taken care of. I've minimalized my bills, even shut off my cell phone, so that I could do my best to make her humblest of dreams become a reality. Unfortuntately, payments usually take 60+ days from hosting affiliates. But hey, maybe we will be in the money within a short time after the baby comes!
Bla bla bla, this is my journey. Let's hope it works out better than PPD. Sorry if a new thread was too much. I just couldn't continue on a PPD journey thread doing hosting affiliate sales.
