Hey, I'm new to blogging and am curious about how you guys create your blogs.
I use blogger which gives me a selection of templates, but am wondering whether it would be better to learn HTML
Also, since I heard that some websites like wix or weebler do not get ranked highly because of the nature of their code, whether using blogger templates hurt my chances at being ranked
Thanks!

depending on what the goals are for the site... I've used: WordPress, wordpress.com, blogger, html, xhtml, php, asp, ruby, javascript, python, and combinations of those.

It all depends on the goals you've established and what is the easiest method of building to meet those goals

Wordpress software is my favorite as blogging platorm.

If you want free blogging, choose blogspot.com (through blogger.com).

It your main concern is ranking, then any platform you choose has an equal chance at ranking.

I'm a developer, so I use a lighter CMS, nibbleblog. I can fully customize the front end to look amazing.

Gotta be Wordpress for me, although I do feel kind of ignorant to trying others. Drupal I tried ONCE I think, seemed ok.

I do of course use HTML5 when needed, although for blogs/web 20's, I'd definitely suggest Wordpress or something.

Definitely wordpress for me as many have already said. I like the huge variety of plugins already built for it

There's not many other reasons to use anything other than WordPress really when it comes to blogs. There are tons of developers and amazing support available.

IMO, if you don't go with wordpress, you are either a very good HTML/CSS coder, or are extremely ignorant.

Google consider every site equally in the terms of crawling, indexing, ranking depends upon the ON Page and Off Page factors. If you have good in html & onpage optimization, then you can go with it. Unless wordpress is the best platform where you can use any plugins as you wish to.

So, i do recommend wordpress!

Wordpress most of the time. Although wordpress has evolved over the concept of blogging years ago. For video blogging, its Drupal.

If you have to ask, you should probably go with WordPress.
