Authority Site Not In Serps

Hey guys, I currently have a site that is 2 months old which i am trying to turn into an authority and i'm running into a little problem. The majority of the big keywords of 4,000+ searches a month are not in the serps, however, the keywords with less than a 1000 monthly searches are in the serps. The domain has over 800 backlinks spread across a dozen keywords and the homepage. The site has over 100+ articles, the on-site optimization is spot on, with keyword density between 1-1.25% and all the pages are interlinked.

Seeing you made 800 backlinks over 60 days, to a site which you wanted to be an "authority" one, already says all.
Better start from scratch on another domain and deindex it deleting all content, and reuploading on the other, and trying, startin' off, to not send so many links, or it will become a "churn and burn" project.
There's so many other things you may have to fix in order to make evrything work, that I wont explain here.

ps: interlinking is not only about link to others articles of your site stictly related between 'em.

I want to clarify that out of the 100 posts, 30 have a MS of 2000+ while the others are 1000 MS a month or less. The keywords that are 1000 MS and less are all in the serps in the top 150, but the main KW that are 2000+ MS a month aren't. How do i get them in the top 300.

You're site's not in the SERPs = You don't have an authority site.

You still haven't clarified? Are they indexed or not? Either way if your lower MS keywords are ranking then your domain is not penalized. You need to focus on building domain authority as it's hard to rank a large number of pages building links to each individual page (or I should say it's expensive).

I would do the following:

Make a bunch of Web 2.0s - all copyscape passable content with properly named images and the content at least 600 - 800 words. Vary the word count. 1 Outbound link to an inner page of your site with the KW for which you are trying to rank. So each Web 2.0 is going to have a different KW in it that is linking to a different page (preferably the page that is targeting that KW) and a matching KW on the Web 2.0.

Get them indexed using your favorite process... there are a million ways to accomplish that.

Backlinks some of those hard, some medium and some soft using as many variations of the different KWs that you are trying to rank for that you can come up with. Ubersuggest is good for that if you do not have your own tool.

Index those backlinks using whatever suits your fancy.

As this process is going, continue to add to your site, add in some random social bookmarks, social signals and the other generic off site activity. I assume you have webmaster tools, sitemap, some kind of plugin that interlinks some of your pages and some of the other basic stuff one should do.

Give it a few months as you build this process and see where you are... I bet you have much better rankings.

Keep the process random though... don't do any one process the same to any one page or you'll be in danger of some kind of footprint and that would not be pleasant.

Edit: just saw that your site is 2 months old... relax as it is not an overnight process.

BTB, would you ever link to your site multiple times with different keywords from the same Web 2.0 site, or do you always just create a new Web 2.0 for each keyword you are trying to rank? Maybe doing that is too much of a footprint???

I almost never do... I can't remember having done that but I imagine I must have once or twice along the way but I prefer to have just the one link with the one KW or a variation of that KW if it is a very narrow one.

I create a new Web 2.0 for each one which is a little work unless you have someone on your staff that handles that for you. I'm fortunate to have a few very solid guys to help me out there.

That being said, I am part of a small group of guys that build huge (authority) sites who compare notes and I know some do that fairly regularly and do very well.

You need more powerful exact anchor backlinks to get into serps for them, but do not exceed the 5-10% total with exact anchors.

I think you are experiencing your site being new.

It's 2 months old.... still wet behind the ears, green, barely crawling, nursing 6 times daily, <insert your favorite cliche>, it'll be fine I am sure as you move forward.

It's new. But what would concern me is 800 backlinks on a site that's only 2 months old. It ain't natural and the algos are designed to understand naturally-occuring link growth.

So I would slow down, let it age a bit before I built anything else linking in.

Likely:

• On page isnt "sound"
• Entire sites linking structure may be detrimental to those pages
• Adding to above on page anchors may be off for said pages
• too many links too fast, may be anchors or simply the velocity

The problem is there are now so many factors in this equation it will be very hard to figure out what is what. This is why you typically want to see every page ranking before any link building; and if some simply do not, which is the case with my new niche site -- you then build 1-2 links can figure out what the issue is.
