I am getting ready to start a new ppc campaign and thinking about targetting longtail keywords to lower my cpc. I was wondering if anyone does this? Also, what search type should I use? Exact, Phrase, Broad or Modified Broad.

Looking forward to your responses and help.

Thanks

Usually the longtail kw convert better but traffic is on the low side. I would target
all kinds of keywords and track which is giving you positive ROI. Also, don't forget
to take advantage of negative keyword and dynamic text for higher CTR

-Good luck

Hey Zeehman, I am in the process of finding thousands of longtail keywords for my campaign. My issue is should I target the longtail keywords as modified broad or phrase search?

Will definitely be using negative keywords as well.

Thanks

If you're using 1000's of longtail kw's then I would stick with exact/phrase
as they have the highest conversion rate for the most part.

set it to exact and just experiment and see which things work best for you

Are we suppose to set the CPC to the recommended front page value, or is that just the average and not minimum?

I would start with the the highest CPC you are willing to pay and then adjust it as you go.
