Google "waiting period" after May 14 payday update?

I don't know why all the people are saying it is 30 days waiting period... It clearly shows they are just posting up rubbish without any proof or tests at their own end. Probably they picked that 30 days waiting period from my post on this thread [first page]. There is no fixed time period at all. It can be 1 month, 2, 3 or even 6 months [maybe more].

I think you guys should be mentioning how big the sites are how much content is on them because that's also a factor to include.

And if google isn't ranking new sites then they would be out of a job soon enough so they are and they're not manually reviewing every site.
I think we shoulden't worry too much about this just get to work don't let this discourage you because then google actually won.

I think nothing is conclusive yet, and not particularly about the time delay. But looks like something is delaying for around a month or so for sites to get further than page 1, but it could be anything and not necessarily something common to all sites.

Ok another update from me. I tried ranking a 5000 searches/month keyword to page 1 in 2 weeks and i did. Comp. was medium. And guess what that keyword wasn't a money making keyword. You can't sell anything with that keyword. Just info. Basically what i mean is that "payday update" is an update for allllllllll money making keywords. Like "hair dryer review" for ex. or anything you can think of that would bring you money. And they let go the keywords that has no commercial value. And how do they do it? SO easy. They got adwords comp. statistics. And just delay the keywords with high and medium comp. Maybe even the lesser comp. keywords too. I don't think it is about the search volume or anything. Also i think that 30 day delay is a guess. I hope its not 60-90 days. We will see the results really soon bec i have about 20 sites to that should rank if it is 30-40 days in the next 10 days.

just FYI, i built a site in may, travel niche, released on the 21st

it hasn't ranked anywhere for ANYTHING, no longtails, title/h1, nothing... in yahoo/bing its on the first page for many of its target keywords

i've only built white hat 2.0/article directory/guest post links

it has 20 pages of 700+ word extremely high quality content

like others have said above, we should stop saying 30 days because we have no evidence. its just conjecture. in my case, i'm over day 50 and still nothing.

when i see rankings improve, i'll make a note of the date and report back here. at least it will be something to go on besides guessing

I know for the most part that having wmt's and ga's on your site is not normally recommended. But it would be interesting to see if having that on a site that your trying to rank would help. Since we know there is a waiting period of whatever time, goog could be implementing a manual review system, who knows?

I've read through this thread and I have a couple of observations:

1) It's not a time based sandbox. While there is and has always been a sandbox for new sites, nothing there has changed and based on your reports here there is a wide range of times.

2) Everybody reporting this has been using fairly similar BH tactics/tools.

3) Nobody I've heard complaining was bring their sites to a slow boil over a period of months.

My personal guess is that the ranking algorithm has changed a bit and is either biased against some common BH tactics now... or at the very least has given higher weight to different tactics which none of you are using. Generally speaking an abrupt change in behavior is a red flag, so be careful to how you react and how radically.

I've always felt Google screwed with people and then waited to see who flinched.

This^^^ I agree. I believe this is what is going on.

This is not true. I've been following this thread with interest because I too have a feeling something is going on - I'm just not sure what exactly yet. Actually, I am in the camp that thinks this could be something far more sinister than a simple '30 - 60 day waiting period'. A simple waiting period sandbox would do nothing in the long-run to deter successful churn-and-burn SEO'ers from applying their craft - IF that is the Google's goal.

Anyway, I purchased a domain just over a week ago, added 8 unique articles and ranked for a high commercial intent KW in just a few days. Was the 'competition' high? No, it's not... BUT that is what you were saying, right? ONLY high commercial intent KW's are being targeted regardless of competition. Anyway, the commercial intent is there for this KW, people are paying for Ads and I ranked in just days with a brand new domain.

It has been sometime since I tried to rank a site. The way Google has evolved makes it even more valuable to still know how to rank websites. I wonder what the final effect of all of those updates will be on the quality of their results.

Noticing it with 1000+ search volume keywords. Unable to penetrate the first page. Almost like Google is keeping the affected site pages from gaining any search engine traffic.

IMO I think this is caused by building High PR DA/PA links too fast with a newer website (6 months or younger, or more or less) while targeting Search volume keywords. It could be more sinister than everyone thinks. This could prevent the effected sites from ranking on 1st page for a long while.

ANyone else effected by this was building high PR DA\PA links daily or unnaturally looking? I bet you were. 1 or a few a day is not natural at all for high PR PA/DA links. Whats more natural is like no more than 1 every 4 days or so.

After Churn and Burn and Black Hat links. Also noticed a lot PBN Networks being deindexed lately.

Just more misinformation being spread about, I have ranked a website, churn and burn gambling related website, and it ranked just the same as it did last October. Nothing here, just lots of people who could not rank a website, jumping in telling others how they still cannot rank a website. If anything all Google has done is gone back to the old Sandbox method where "some" new websites would not rank, and "others" would rank.

Don't you think if there was some big update, Cutts would be all over Twitter like the little kid he is, telling everyone about it? Telling people how he has killed spam off.

I have had loads of websites like that, years ago and recently. You know what I do, change what I am doing. Some people seem to think sticking to the same old shit, just blasting away with GSA or something is going to break that barrier. It is not, not because of some magic update, but because quite simply it never worked in the first place.

'More sinister' would be exactly along the lines you are thinking... de-valuing backlinks (either timed or non-timed) to new content on sites that are non-authority. Why would this have no effect on most search results? Most authority sites rank new content with no backlinks whatsoever. Google gives them a huge boost just because of who they are.

Along these lines, I have used PBN links recently to push content further up (from page 2 to page 1) in a matter of a couple of days with content that google already 'trusts' (ranked on page 2 w/o any backlinks whatsoever). If it's indeed a waiting period on backlinks, I'm thinking it only effects non-trusted content...

Will test different links one at a time. Will report if anything moves after a few weeks.

Try 301's from URL shorteners and aged domains. Buy five aged domains with PR, make a website on the aged domains with content related to your keywords, then 301 the websites to your money site. Blast the aged domains and URL shorteners with high pr blog comments, or better Sape.

Every site I have had stuck at page two I have moved with 301's.

Could be. Newer sites in general don't have much trust I am sure with Google.
