Well, first and foremost is your content has to be really good. If content is good, setting the Title, Description and tags should do the trick. Remember Youtube itself tries to spread the word initially once you upload a new video.

Secondly, you can try to get good views from Social media like Facebook, Twitter, G+, Delicious etc. Many of my videos have gone viral from facebook.

Before posting a videos check once in Google Adword tool for the long tail keyword, then if you maintain some good FB fan page or Twitter page or google page spread the word. I have seen any video with good content with correct title, desc and tags comes up in the YT search engine with in 6 hours. You have to work on backlinks for Google SERP.

Remember the initial views counts, if you are able to get some 10k views on the first day, 99 times out of 100 it will pop.
