Google "waiting period" after May 14 payday update?

Make sense, but that means high quality tiered linkbuilding will even become more important, you will need to construct even better tier 2 and and maybe even tier 3 links, i already do that even tier 2 and 3 are of good quality of my link building schemes are of a quality that a view months back it would have passed as tier one lol

For now my strageties are building big sites in a silo structure with frequent updates (pun content though, google still can't read :))

Build a high quality 3 tier link scheme.

Add links from PBN

Add social sign, although i still don't belief in them as a ranking power at all, you always get some extra traffic from social sites like twitter and facebook, and traffic = traffic

Wait out the delay.

I guess your spun content is still good enough to convert into leads?

thanks you guy for information I was stuck too with new site that not ranking at all on very weak KWs . between 17~35 and home page not ranking at all .
I also notice no changing in first Page ranking on all my targeted keywords .
so I know it's not my site only .. one thing I notice on my niche that their new site start appear on page 1 using 301 so I thing waiting period not apply on all site .

That's exactly what I'm seeing. In my ecommerce-based niche, old sites with very few links that are riddled with duplicate content are outranking newer sites with much better content and solid back link profiles. I don't get it.

A lot of valuable info in this thread - thats why i love BHW.

About this 'delay' i am about to launch a new blog with 100% unique content on a 10 years old domain (PA/DA 20). I also own 40-50 old web 2.0's that i never used ( 2-4 years) + i will 301 redirect 4-5 old domain with PA/DA +50 to the money site.

I will test this out without PBN links or any other fancy stuff. The niche is very popular on social media so i might add some signals - dont know yet.

I'll post updates.

I am totally newbie but here are my observations.
1- I built a brand new website on 2k monthly searched keyword of Movies niche and submitted it to reddit. The post went viral and hit the to position on r/movies for many hours. People also shared on other social networks. In return I am now on page 1 for that search term from last 30 days.
2- I built a niche specific amazon website in Home and Improvement category with 10k monthly searches. I built few general backlinks for link diversity and 10 PBN links. Site didn't show up for 7-10 days in any SERPs. Than i built 40+ Gplus from a service and suddenly i got position 13. It all happened in less than 20 days for a brand new website. I am now thinking to diversify my social signals.
My Question: Is the social signals from top social websites along with normal backlinks is the solution of this problem? Is there any weight in this argument? If yes than we can easily build some hundred Social backlinks especially GPlus. Your expert opinion please.

Something i noticed to and that is that longtail keywords still rank on first page, while most of the "service + city keywords" hang on page two to five, my secondary keywords "affordable service + city" and a keywords are for 90% on page one.

Its like this fir now

plumber + mid-level city = page 2 to 5 (still have 3 keywords in the top 10)
Need a Plumber in + mid-level city = page 2 to 5
affordable plumber + + mid-level city = page 1 and 2
leaking plumbing + mid-level city = position 8 to 3

So it looks like you can still target the low hanging fruits, and if you build a big site with a lot of low hanging fruit your site can still make money when in the audition phase (got that term from NoHatSeo and it fits perfectly)

So i will be building 10 new sites with low hanging fruit terms as my silo pages and see if i can squeeze out some leads that way without having to wait 4 months

The problem with this theory is that Google has categorically said that they DO NOT use G+ as a ranking factor... so, it's possible that the thing that eventually ranked you was time, rather than the G+'s.

perhaps social signals aren't a ranking factor....but a confirming factor.

Update Just Jumped to #84 ,I was off for few days but I think that was google dance as I added some quality links,
Let me see if I keep on climbing :) I will report back when I get on page 1 :)

Thanks.

This will also be my strategy, go after long tails to fill-in the audition/waiting period.

This is very likely. I always considered Social signals as "justification" for other links.

When you think of it, if a website/page receives a lot of buzz from social sites, it's only normal for that page/site to have links from other websites, no matter how old/new the page in question is. I'll be focusing on this for a few new sites to see if social signals can help speed up/eliminate the "audition" period.

I don't know that I share that view. If they were a 'confirming' factor, that would mean they play a part in rankings - making them a ranking factor. I take the view that they're irrelevant to rankings, both because G has said so, and because my own test have failed to demonstrate that they're important to ranking.

My tests shows diff. I was ranking in March #1 on a medium kwd, 1800 exact searches ONLY with social shares - ranking is the same today. Never built a link to that blog, all i did was heavy social promotion. I have to say that all shares are natural, nothing bought.

So in my case did work, might not work for other niche ... idk.

They worked at my end too but the results were kinda temporary. I sent around 100 G+1's and site shoot up from #80 to #9. But it just stayed there for few days and then dropped off to around #36. I think one needs to constantly drip feed the social signals in order to maintain the rankings.

I started testing this thing some time ago and here are my results.

#1. a less spammed web2.0 . it took 1 month to get Third position on first page. (it improved in ranks every day)

#2. a blogger blog it was improving slowly but after a week it went to "waiting period".

#3. another less spammed web2.0. it was improving every day,but then i gave it a gsa blast and it went in "waiting period" but it came back within a week and is currently fifth on page one.

#4. a super duper authority site. i build a page on this "white-listed site" and it was indexed in 1 min and withing 24 hours it's on third page. (will post about it's rank until it will reach first page).

#5. "HQ" backlink building on a old domain it's tenth on page 1 now.

i think authority matters. but it's wrong to say that waiting period depends upon backlinks.

totally disagree. I've tested this idea to death. social signals have played no role whatsoever. never have. and they don't appear to have this time either.

a social signal is just a nofollow link from highly spammed sites . i not think if they will ever play a major role . but they are not that bad also.
