I feel a bit confused the way Google works at the moment.

Last year my website got penalized because of our link profile.
We had to build a whole new website and the costs we made were thousands of euros.
Bye Bye Business.

I thought a good lesson, let's start over again.
New domain, New chances... Right?

For my new website i try to prevent "linkbuilding", What? How the hell can you rank without linkbuilding, simple answer is you wont.
And guess what happens, again a message from Google that we have unnatural links...
But how? Yes some affiliates.. I had to write webmasters again that do affiliate for us and ask if they can remove the links.
Now Bye Bye affiliates + Bye Bye Ranking = Bye Bye Business Again, all our rankings gone from top 20 to 50+

I scanned my website with CognitiveSEO, And oh wow we have 10 unnatural links from the 80 in total...
I thought lets scan my competitors... Oh wow they have 5000+ links and more then 500+ unnatural links and oh yeah they still farming our business with their lucky google only target us.

They are in top 10 for same period as our old website that have been penalized, how come? anybody know?

So what am i doing wrong, seriously am i so unlucky?
It looks like a very unfair game? How is it possible all top 20 full of spammers and me with just 10 unnatural links already got myself a message from Google about our unnatural link profile?

I think since the update Google have lost their control instead of improving it and give spammers even more profit when they catch the wrong people... very unfair isn't it? (Nothing against spammers) ;-)

I scanned the whole top 20 competitor list and guess what... in compare with our website we have the best Onpage SEO, best text, faster server, great title and descriptions, so it looks like Onpage SEO does not even count anymore with all these high backlinks of our competition?

Maybe someone have advice how we can beat our competitors without breaking guidelines of Google?
Or does this even exist because i really doubt it now.

You are such a good photographer :)

I wish. Then I could shoot hot models after I've test driven them.

Anyhow, whining about life not being fair was all I could get out of your post. You do realize that you're playing a game where everyone cheats to their best abilites? No amount of on-page optimization and guideline approvals will help when the thing that matters are backlinks.

May be the Domains have to be very old to have a Big Back Link Count....
So may be you need to have a Aged Domain, Some Social Signals from G+ and FB...
Backlinks with Blog Posts..... something like that....

Your Competitors domain might be old and established.... may b....

Thank you for your reply.

I don't want to whining, maybe its just the context i write in :)
I just don't get it why this happens and how other websites can continue with huge unnatural link profiles and i got messaged for a few unnatural links and lose all rankings.

I know links are important but buying it is against guidelines, even our links that were unnatural were not even bought.
So my question is how to beat competitors within guidelines, looks impossible right?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, my DA is 5 years, pretty old.
We have a huge social activity in compare to our competitors, still they are doing it well.
That's why I've been looking for some answers, i can't get any clue about it.

Get your affiliates to add rel="nofollow"

That's a good one thank you, just now they already has been marked as unnatural i wonder if after adding rel="nofollow" still helps? or just for new links?

Disavow them and then get the ref="nofollow"

Hi there.

if it is a business website, you should go for adwords. i know SERP is great, but if visitors on your site will convert to money, go for adwords. even if you are #1 if you have no place on adwords, then you are giving some space to a competitor to be over you.

affiliates should be always nofollow, so G understands you are not buying backlinks to rank but you are buying promotional space on your affiliates.

Go For PBN, if you can effort thousands of $ on building a website, then you should effort some more to build a decent PBN and rank it yourself. of course the risk is high if not don't right, but if you do it right you could even have #1 on serps (i Have)

if you want to buy quality backlinks, there are plenty good services in here to buy, but i would suggest not to point them at your professional site. buy them for your PBN and you will be fine.

Build some web 2.0 blogs also and link them.

Best wishes.

Leobar!

PS. if u need any help feel free to ask or PM me

Thank you for your great advice!

We sell prohibited products, G don't allow our niche in Adwords so that makes it very difficult.
Also i see many services on BHW but the problem is our website is not in English and maybe when these services add many USA links our profile anyhow will look unnatural again because language conflict (but i'm not sure if G checks that, its just a guess?). I already read about the PBN, but also i read its a bit tricky as well, but might think about that.

Thanks, and for you also best wishes! :)

No prob mate. anytime.

That's why PBN is the best for the moment.
you can build like 15-20 blogs with your country tld, you write 20-30 articles niche related on each blog.
build some web 2.0 also.
buy backlinks pointing to your PBN (not on your money site)
make link building manually (mixed with social media shares - yt videos.......)
keep adding content on your PBN
make it look natural
sit and enjoy :)

Best wishes.
Leobar!

PS. PBN is tricky and you must be careful. especially DNS ip and C range. never have 2 blogs on the same hosting or same IP Class.

Today i got good news, my manual spam action has been removed. :clap2:
I used cognitiveSEO to find all unnatural links and removed them.
Took about 2 weeks before G answer my reconsideration by automatic e-mail.

Happy for you, hope you start regaining your good rankings.

That gives me a confidence to try cognitive seo to regain my banned website.
Will start a separate thread to share my experience.

Thank you.

Awesome! That is good news that at least google pretends to care. I am happy for you! I have seen lots and up and downs over the years, and have been around black hats the most without actually doing black hat, and now have decided to try my hand at black-hat. Yes, I have officially leaped into the dark side.

Rankings also regained after a few days, very happy now!
CognitiveSEO definitely worth it to find all your unnatural links and fix your backlink profile :D
