PBN Penalized money sites?

Hey guys, I need some help please, as I am extremely confused.

So I've set up a PBN on 30 different C class IP's, with good PA/DA expired domains and I followed all the proper rules to hide my network as much as possible. After posting a few 250 word articles to some money sites, I have realized that they have all got penalized. The only money site that didn't get penalized was over a year old. The money sites which got penalized didn't have the same amount of BL's from the blog network... some only had 2-3 backlinks and others had 12+. I am pretty sure my network didn't get penalized since when I search for titles, or content from my articles, it always pops as #1 for long tails. The penalty is not a manual penalty since added some of the sites to webmaster tools and nothing showed up. None of the PBN sites are in webmaster tools. Content is 100% unique. What's really weird is that the money pages actually start to rank and only got hit after two weeks of adding PBN posts, they didn't all get hit at the same time, some a week after the others. I only added 1 bl to the sites once indexed then every few days I doubled the backlinks, eg, 2, 4, 8 etc..

Here's what I think my be the reasons why it got penalized:

1. Articles of 250 words or less trigger a penalty?
2. IP addresses used banned by google? Maybe other people have abused them? Although I don't think my PBN would rank!?
3. I have posted some articles in different languages over the PBN, could that affect it? Some BN sites have a few articles in different languages, though I dont see how this can be a concrete reason.
4. I have used my kw in the title of my posts, maybe google can see overoptimized BN posts? Although even a site with 3 backlinks each to a different product got penalized, which is really confusing me.

you most likely sent too many kw rich anchors too fast at the site

Possibly you use too many keywords as anchor. Try to use nacked url instead. If the links are in blogroll this can be counted as link scheme. If there haven't other links, than this can be considered as link scheme. If some competitor report you - this is bad. Maybe the domains you buy are too irelevant. How long have you been building backlinks to the site? Have you diluted the high PR backlinks with other generic keyword backlinks from other sources? What page was your money site on before it got penalized and what page is it on right now? How long did you wait before making the conclusion that your sites was penalized? Did all of your sites drop at the same exact time? Need to know the answers to these questions before anyone can help you.

Penalties caused by PBNs are unnatural link penalties which are always reported in Google Webmaster Tools. Basically means you probably triggered a filter "only", what many refer to as "sandbox".

Depending on the niche/keywords, the new "Payday Loan" update targeting spammy sites and spammy queries could be a reason, too.

I don't recommend PBNing a new domain right away. Get two-three good DA/PA old domains and 301 them and then PBN.

When you PBN, never use the same anchor. Ever. Get a 200-300 list of long tails and mix them with generics and always use new anchor when you post. This way you'll grab both short and long tails and, in my testing, it is better traffic-wise.

you can get a penalty from one link, its not a anchor penalty but an OOP

Thank you all for your quick comments,

1. I didn't dilute my backlinks with anything, I was just posting a few posts to my PBN every other day, trying to stay under the radar, I did notice that a few of the websites that had diversity in the backlinks were not affected. Though I know people who rank their money sites with nothing but their PBN's, is that true?
2. I tried to diversify my backlinks by using partial and such, but I guess I should have just sent naked URLs. It seems google is getting a little touchy with even partial anchor text.
3. I know this is an algo penalty because from the keywords were ranking on the first page, then they got hit to the 20th.
4. I am in the health niche, the articles are usually about products, I try to stay on topic. Maybe is it because my articles are too short and too focused on the keyword? Although my anchor is not repeated... I didn't think a few backlinks would affect a money site. It's not like I spammed it.
5. The backlinks were built over the course of a week, every few days, very slowly.
6. New and older domains both got hit, but the ones which had diversified backlinks seem to have lasted through.

What do you mean by 3 backlinks each?

The 1-2 week delay is the Ranking Pages algorithm screwing with you.

250 words is pretty minimal.

Ok, the same thing is currently happening to me. I sent 4 PBN links over the course of 1 week and my site jump from no where to number 73. 24 hours later the site went back to no where. I was thinking the same as you, but I think it could be a google dance because my site is starting to rank for other long tail keywords.

One of the money pages that got penalized, I had built 3 different backlinks to 3 different pages, but I had used the exact match kw (I didnt think that using exact match for the first backlink would trigger a penalty)
The weird thing is that this money page actually had about 15 other backlinks to it, and is at least 9-10months old. what do you think it is?

I don't think that the serps became so sensitive that one to three High PR backlinks can trigger a penalty that quick. No message in WMT and all competitors are unaffected. If this was the case, then everyone that bought PBN BST packages will be going crazy right now. Its dancing

Could be a money site problem, kw density, etc.. I also wouldn't freak out over anything less than a month

So this is what I've got so far:
1. Article should probably be longer and be more generic and not so much product focused
2. Backlinks should be more naked rather than partial
3. Diversify backlinks with a few forum posts etc..

I feel like a lot of it has to do with the crappy articles I bought.. they are not spun but are only 250 words each and make little or no sense.. ehh.. freelancer.com sucks.

You are confused because you are not utilizing ANY of the various software applications designed to automate the "On Page" and "Off Page" SEO evaluation/spying process. I use a combination of SEO Powersuite, SpyFu.com, Ahrefs.com and a few others.

I'm never in the dark about the "On page SEO" of any of my sites or any of my competing sites.

I'm also never in the dark concerning my backlink architecture or that of my competitors.

2. That is a possibility too.

3. That's a concern too. Try to keep your articles in English if yours is an "English PBN".

My opinion: 1. You either didn't setup the PBN correctly. Maybe that has resulted in a penalty.
2. You used too much exact match anchors.
3. Article quality was below par. (thin content)
