I rarely feel this. I have a business proposal that I am working on. At first I feel that my proposal is really great, the concept and all that. I've talked with the school President and my intuition says that my chance to be accepted is above 70%. Now, I am polishing it and I am adding more features to the package to be more attractive.

But now while polishing the project, I don't have the drive to finish what I have started. I just really feel down. I don't have the contract yet. I lack direction and the motivation to go on.

This proposal if ever it will be accepted would make a big difference to my life at present and to my future as well. But still these facts doesn't motivate me. Darn. What's wrong with me? Do I need to see a Psychologist? lol.

Share your ways on uplifting yourself. It might work on me too.

What you are doing is called self sabotage.

It is rooted in your psyche and has something to do with your fear of success or failure. I understand that is might be because there is an authority figure in your life who has expressed the fact that you are not going to succeed, and because of your love/respect for this authority figure, you cannot bring yourself to doing something that will make him/her look bad, or make them mad.

The trigger can be the opposite too, you may feel that you do not want to prove them right, so you do not finish instead of fail.

As you get closer to success, you start to not want to succeed (or you are afraid that they are right), and it is better to not succeed because you did not try than to fail because you were incapable.

It could also be ADHD.

Or maybe I am off track here.

It could be you're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

I have my own diary and when I feel like I'm a stupid guy, I will open my diary and read again what I have done in the past, in high school for example, It's really a good memory when you see the picture of you in the past with your first love or your best friend

you've got to get your testosterone up. lift weights, eat steak, watch this

it actually does go down if you don't do manly shit, not joking.

If you are doing something and your not excited by doing it. then maybe you shouldn't be doing it..You should do something that excited you and you will thrive.

I'd have written almost exactly the same thing as Techxan - fear of failure can be a huge demotivator.

If that's what is happening to you there is a way to counteract it - and that's the fact that conversely, success is a big motivator.

Try making a list of everything you need to do to finish the project. Every task, every bit of research, every little thing.

And then start working through the list one by one.

Each time you complete a task you will feel a sense of success as you tick it off the list and that feeling will hopefully act as a counter to the demotivation you currently feel.

It will also act as a counter to any feeling you have that you have too much to do to get the project finished. Just focus on the small task at hand and then move onto the next.

Maybe while polishing your proposal, you went off the track that you can work efficiently. Maybe you should get rid of those excess polished stuff that you can not deliver and you should keep the things stupid simple to make people believe and trust you.

im going through something similar.

business plan, visiting factories this week, this is the last thing me and my business partner need to do.

After this week everything is ready, but then we will need between 50-200k euros :) I am questioning everything, even my business partner.
i am not looking forward to that part, but whatever, babysteps.

BEST POST OF THE DAY

I would just add that MANY many members of BHW feel this way, and it is stopping them from seeing REAL progress in their online work!!

I'm never really feeling down. Might just be that I'm still a teenager...
Anyway, maybe try finding something you enjoy and add that to your day.

Damn Tex. You're good.

I know how you feel but part of having success is to separate your feelings from the
actions you do. If I felt like working everyday I would not have a business or money. You have to stow those
feelings in a closet and move forward based on logic. Then when you have success you can afford feelings.

Good luck with your project I hope you succeed!
