Here's my first impression review from what I see so far within an hour of being active with PureBits.
My account is activated. (It took a couple days, but that's understandable with it having been the weekend and all. No hard feeling here.) I log in, upload my file. One thing I want to point out that I like is that the OP here has told me that I can use this for my adult niche downloads, as long as no adult files are being hosted on their servers. This is exactly what I need.
Once I log in and go to the file uploader I see a message that says "You are not allowed to upload pornographic material. Everything related to adult files will be deleted and you will get banned." This is a bit scary, but whatever. I've been told otherwise, so I'll go with it and see what happens. I will, though, be a very unhappy camper if my earnings get zapped because they see that I use PureBits to link to adult material.
Next, like I do with any PPL type program, I break the TOS and attempt to download my own file. This is so I can see what it is like from the perspective of my traffic/viewers and see what snags my traffic may run into. By knowing what they are looking at and going through, I can help them through the process a little better. (I have full contact with my potential leads as they are trying to download, so I can talk them through it.) Even though I break the TOS, it's only one lead, it's not like I'm running proxies and trying to up my earnings. I'm simply testing the system.
I click my link to my file. Click the big download button, and I'm presented with a list of offers to complete to get my download. I see Audacity is on the list, and since I love Audacity as an audio-editing program, I decide to choose this one. I download the program, install it, and it kills my browser. Opening Chrome back up and restoring took me back to the download page, but the offer didn't convert so I didn't get the download.
I decide to try another offer. Maybe Audacity didn't convert because I'm smart enough to decline all the adware that is offered in the install. So I choose a Youtube downloader. I install it, agree to all of the adware, and the offer still doesn't convert.
I look through the huge list of offers by using the "More Offers" link, and find one that should convert on email submit. I try it. I register, submit my email. Get taken to the next page. No conversion. No download.
I try another offer that should convert on email confirmation. I register with my real email and get taken to yet another offer that was completely unrelated to the one I had just registered for. I go to my email to wait for the confirmation message, but it never comes.
I go back and try some other offers. Every one I click bring up a page that never loads.
My computer is now ridden with adware. Every click I make in my browser warrants a pop-up ad. This is no problem, because I can get rid of it. I'm not worried about it. I don't care if my traffic gets adware, it's really not my problem. But, from my experience, I don't know that my traffic will ever be able to get the download, if I will ever get a conversion, etc. It is essential for my traffic to get the download because it has the password and free content that my users want if they are going to remain loyal to me instead of my competitors.
I'm not saying this is a bad service. So far, I'm not impressed. (I'm less impressed with PureBits than PureBits will be with me about violating the TOS. But hey, this is how I test my affiliate programs.) I'd really like information on why this never converted after so many attempts. I'm not bashing PureBits, I am just giving my honest review and first impression of my first hour as a member.
If this violation of the TOS results in my ban from PureBits, then so be it. Nonetheless; this post will live on. I would like to use PureBits because it offers to cater to what I need. I just need it to actually work.
Once again, no hard feelings! I just need information on what the problem might be.
