What are YOU Currently doing about Panda 4.0?

My site was hit massively hard... which is ironic, because I've focused on purely well written content. I always had an incredibly low bounce rate, long articles, with images, videos, refferences, etc.

On the 19th, I got almost 500 uniques on my site. Today, 110. Almost all my rankings have disappeared (as in down 200 positions, or just gone completely). Pretty frustrating, to be honest. Day one was bad, but it's just continued to get worse every day

I had seen a slow, steady rise over the last 5 months, without doing much. Slowly just getting better SERPs. Then pretty much overnight, boom, gone.
Waiting a week or two before I do anything, but it's pretty devastating at the moment. Mostly because I'm not even sure what I've "done wrong", so to speak. It was all very white hat, and I wasn't ranking for anything "that I shouldn't".

Probably the biggest mistake is to get paranoid and start making changes fast on each google algo change

One of my important site drop, I remove the lowest quallity backlinks.... watch the google dance of my kws, stuff like that and wondering how the competitors still are on the top with crap backlinks from automated tools for a competitive keyword so the part with great content are pure bullshit.

5 websites, on page OK! 2-3 ranks, the others never :fencing:

why? ask google...

same template, same niche, unique content.

so 3 websites rank, 2 get penalized (because i'm a little black somtime) one not :champion:

so i make diffrents changes changes on 2 penalized websites

one come back the other dead? maybe.

Just to say you have to try and test and multiply what work, take money when you can because you don't know tomoroow what could happen with f.....g GG

Legit sites are penalized too sometime, lol

And i see so many crap site #1 so my choice i to make the biggest ROI and multiply everything that work.

I think nobody can answer what happen to a website and why, you will have thousand of differents advices.

Nothing as nothing happened to most of my sites, only one really climbed up the ranking from nowhere, this site is in the health niche with translated content (Dutch to English), but all my other sites are not hit at all, so i wont be doing anything atm.

speaking of dust settling. How good of a gauge is mozcast for seeing if things are quietening down?

Algoroo and Mozcast are a good indicator to check if the dust has settled down or not.

I had done very little link building, about one year ago. That stuff was spun, a wiki blast with extremely high anchor text variation for inner pages. Didn't include any tiered link building, was more of just a little mini boost, a few months after launching the site.
Apart from that a year ago, and the occasional social media boost (say, 50 or 100 social shares) when I posted something, I haven't done any fake link building at all.

I've cruised through all the updates since around April last year, and have only gotten better and better rankings (with no additional blackhat stuff).

But why are we talking links here? Panda is mainly focused on on-site content and design? If it was a Penguin update, I could somewhat more understand it, and might go in and go nuts with Disavow.

The weirdest part, was that the day before the update, was my busiest day ever o0

I was doing the same. I've been getting visitors in the high 500's and as of recently even 600's and 700's, without much work at all. Well now I got royally fucked and I'm getting ~250. Back to poverty. I suspect it's the spam link attack I've been having done on me by 1 of my competitors since late last year.

Most of my competition has vanished and been replaced by info sites that aren't trying to sell anything - leaving the sales field open for my stuff.

My vacation niche sites have exploded recently.
All those with pages of hotel pictures in grids with 20 words underneath - a star rating and a price? (nearly always taken from the holiday company's brochure page anyway) gone.
My content filled vacation sites!
Crowding page one for all my terms. In one sub niche 4 of the 7 Google are showing on page 1 for a 25,000 a month keyword are mine, including number 1 and 2

my site went from #8 to #1 for past few days. Since that update it knocked a lot of competition off for a competitive niche 25,000 monthly exacts

all i been doing was updating it and removing shitty back links since dec. no new back links

Im still sittin stable at #2-#3 for my money terms (although i was #1)

Not sure if i should continue to wait or make on page changes now.

Only thing i can think of is that my keyword density is too high.

Focus more upon good quality content as well as decent natural looking backlinks. And, if things start to appear changing, give it some time till things pretty much settle down.
