Anyone still use Disqus to get traffic? Or have they really clamped down, and it's become too moderated?

Also, how do you deal with the spam protection? I hear they strip your url, plus ban your domain for good. How do you deal with this?

No short cuts in this case my friend ...

If you want to get the traffic from disqus comments than you need
to add value to your comments or may be you need to add controversy
in your comments :)

Place question type comments for quick approval.

Good idea. Kinda appeal to the site owner's ego by asking questions, & making them feel like they're a source of knowledge.

I think another good method is to comment (without links), then once it's approved put a link in your profile.

Like with all commenting systems, you have to be cautious and steer clear of spammy keywords.

Yep sill working if you have good information for the people.

i rarely use DISQUS because they are nofollow. If you create DISQUS profile and comment then many a times you end up with an autoapproved comment. You could even try intensedebate. Their comments are usually auto approve

I've never had trouble commenting with Disqus, then again I've only used one account..

I just tried this and it doesn't seem to work. I posted a reply on some busy site that I know is moderating Disqus comments and it got approved within minutes (because there was no links). I waited 5 minutes and edited the comment and dropped a link to Google and checked my comment via private browsing and it disappeared. If I login on Disqus, I can still see my comment. I removed the link, logged out of Disqus, checked the comment again via private browsing and it re-appeared.

There's a flag that automatically puts comments with links in the mod queue regardless of whether the comment was previously approved or not. I didn't try again on another site 'cos I'm lazy...

Disqus commenting is dead for SEO imo, last time we did it was almost 2 years ago and back then it was already hardly effective.

I have enable Disqus commeting on my blog , and I do get a pretty decent traffic from it..So , they have not clamped out .. yet.. :)

I just added a Disqus comment box...my understanding is G has a deal with them, so if I get comments = social signal. We'll see.

Never had a problem with Disqus.
Thinking of adding it to my own blogs in fact. Seems a really good platform for owners and contributors. Certainly never had a comment or link deleted from it.

Scritty

There is a bunch of non SEO blogs that I like to read and as often as not when I get to the blog comments Disqus is hung-up still trying to load. If I hit reload the comments usually come up. As you can see from my post count I don't say much but do like to leave a comment if the content is helpful or compelling or ups the blood pressure. Never left a comment in the Disqus system. If you are farming your content system out why don't you just bite the bullet and turn comments off.
