Can you make money writing articles?

I tried Triond once, but had hardly any luck. I'm a fairly good writer with a firm education but I just need somewhere better. Is there anyplace better or is writing for money not as great as it sounds?

If you want work and are willing to be a bit flexible with the rate, you will have your hands full.

Industry standard right now for a truly competent writer seems to be 3 to 5 cents per word.

No offence but when people hire writers they want perfect English, not fairly good, which to be blunt, you are not even fairly good going off your post.

If you are in a country where salaries are low, then yes. However, you wouldn't want to be in the US and try competing at price with third world countries.

Yes, you can make a lot of money writing. Try our textbroker, iwriter and other such sites.
Yes, you will be competing with other writers who write for less than a cent a word but eventually you will find some clients
who will pay you much better rates, if they like the quality.

One other thing, your writing style will not make everyone happy but some will love it.
So, don't get discouraged when you get rejected initially. Keep working and you will get some clients.

And ignore the people judging you on the basis of your forum posts.
They seem to forget that writing on a forum is different than writing for money.

man screw all those feeelancer websites set up a simple website with samples of your writing and hit the highway i realize if you really want to make a living form writing your going to have to target the businesses that need content. think about it the same energy you put in applying for writing jobs that will you nada, is the same energy you can put in to find the people who will pay you more money
