I used to do this when I was tapped. If you do it correctly there is an almost 100% conversion rate.

1. Look in the yellow pages. Find a business that already has a website.

2. Call them up and ask if they have a website you can visit (to make sure).

4. If they do, then purchase a domain name that sounds like their business. So if their site is http://www.FishingBait.com register http://www.BestFishingBait.com

5. Point it to one of their competitor's websites.

6. Call them up and ask for the manager or owner. For larger companies ask for the advertising department.

7. Tell them to go to the website. They will see their competitor.

8. Now tell them that you can get the domain name for them!

9. They will be ecstatic. They will probably ask. How much? and How is this possible? Tell them that you own the domain name and that their competitor is very rude and you find it difficult to work with them. Now offer the domain name to them for just $50 USD.

10. They will most likely purchase it. Point it to their site. BAM! $40 profit for you. If they refuse, point the domain to their site and go to their competitor.

This works because they think they are taking business away from their competitors and getting it for themselves. You can scale this up insanely, there are literally thousands of businesses out there. You can even outsource it if you choose.

Good idea.

What if the company says no? What would you do with the website?

This sounds like alot of research and phone calls for just $40. Tell us more about the outsource methods.

Get someone to do it for you, for 50/50, 70/30, whatever.

I need specifics...you see once mr x delve into the yellow pages then he has to find out who the competition is. Then mr x has to buy domains. Then he has to make the phones calls.... I see Mr. x would quit. Give me a better system so I can see how money can be made from this for all the work.

I gave you the method. You can't make a system yourself? You're going about it the wrong way paying 50/50. With the economy in the shits $10.00 an hour is pretty good. They can do a lot in an hour. However, don't share too many of the secrets with him. Otherwise, he'll be tempted to do it himself

well no secret over here, its just a logical problem. but I have no idea what system you're talking about. the boss has to see the competition himself to believe it. or you can hand it to him on a silver platter with colour-printed screenshots of the domain.

"You can even outsource it if you choose".

I didnt write that you did I was just asking about the business model that would be adaquete. I am all for systems as long as they can be outsourced effieciently. I guess when you say outsource you mean the phone calls not the research and the domain creation.

System meaning outsource methods to the other poster.

Yes you can charge more than $50, they'll easily pay a few hundred for this (target big companies)

Purchase some bullshit traffic to that domain and they'll think ya did them a favor!

I wrote something about this a few months ago, you can do it in so many ways. A company here in The Netherlands made 60K a week. But they went further than BH and charge companies way to much.

A simple idea:
1- Make a site with something like http://www.domainprotect.info or whatever

2-Snatch some domains from school or toy stores, just register a extension like .info or net.
Most of them only register one extension so it easy to get another.

3-Put a porno (aff) website on it

4-Call them and tell that your company( domainprotect.info or whatever) can get it back.

5-Most of the time they will do it since your point it out, now charge a fee, how bigger the company, how biggger the fee.

That was just one expample you can do this with your own twist and other niches.

I really like this - Tricky and Cruel, I'm somewhat of a noob so have a couple of questions!

1. I've never sold a domain name before, how do you actually handle the transaction.

2. What if the proposed new buyer does a whois search and sees that the domain name you have created is brand new and has just been registered?

3. I'm thinking small privately held companies with a couple Million in sales each year would be the prime target. Not to small but not large enough to have a full blown I.M. Staff

Thanks - I'm definately gonna give this a go!

1. You request a form, fill it in and its done.
2. Use the domainprotect first. If you dont have success you can do the method in the first post. If that doenst work, you are doing it wrong :P
3. Any company can be your target. I dont think I would do extremely big ones, but medium size.

Hope I helped :)

This still seems like a little much. And if both companies say no, then what? You're screwed out of $10 and a few hours of work and research. Plus this is not really a rinse and repeat method. There's a certain number of companies that can be worth trying this out on. Plus it can be quickly saturated.

Lol, dude... You're joking right? $10? Saturated? Can't be rinsed and repeated?
