Link Building Through a 301

Lots of great advice in this thread, I just read through all of it. Anybody ever managed to rank highcomp with sape?

ive only done it with low comp, cheap speed rank package :)

It's essentially the same thing, in regards to the packages. The more you pump the greater results you'll get.

A lot of you are saying "when money site gets slapped" but if your not building too many tier 1 links woukdn't it not get slapped? Or can google slap you for building too many tier 2 and 3 also?

When you create a 301, you only get a portion of the link juice (according to a video by Cutts from 2011, about 85% of the link juice is passed through.) So for blackhat / spammy links, it is possibly a good idea to send them to a domain that is 301'd to your money site. But clean, manual links should definitely point directly at money site so you get the full benefit.

Makes no difference, the domain that is receiving the juice from the 301 will take it as it's own actual link. You're essentially creating the same amount of damage for no particular reason. To buffer links through you'd need a web property such as a 2.0 / guest post, etc not a 301. However if you did use a 301, and your main site got banned the domain that has the links would still be fine to pass the same 301 link juice to another domain

301 is good for short term ranking.
but, i have some confusion.
if you 301 redirect from old to new site and that old site have 4 content like olddomain.com/how-to-eat and it will redirect to newdomain.com/how-to-eat

so, if i don't have content in newdomain.com/how-to-eat will the power of old link be go on waste ??

It will if the permalink structure remains the same, if the path is any different (But same in content) then you would need to set a specific .htaccess rule on those two URL's to talk with each other.

Indeed, unless each page has somewhere to go, the link value is lost.

A good work-around is to 301 domain.com/page to domain.com, and then 301 domain.com to your money site. Google has said that they'll follow "up to three or four redirects", so be aware that by using this workaround you're already up to the second hop.

Im abit noob when it comes to understanding 301 link building...But just a question...If I had a site that was penalized by google for bad links (not manual penalty) then if i do 301 redirect to new domain, will that pass the penalty to the new one? If so, how can i redirect my old domain to the new one without giving negative effect? thanks

Yes interesting topic .

Tony, how many domain 301's are you using to each money page/site? 3-5-20-100?

I tried doing 8 pretty juicy domains to a new bought site. Never got off the ground.

Do you build your sape links etc first and then do the 301's because in my experience doing only 301's with no other links is a fail.

I suggest you read my earlier posts in this thread. Indeed, start on the first page, and follow through... the topic you raise has been discussed in depth.

Usually just one for my SAPE links and one for diversity links. And yes, I build the links before doing the 301.

I have recently taken to buying dropped domains to 301 and use for diversity, because the links will invariably have very little to do with my money phrase.

I haven't tried just 301's without SAPE though - I'm sure there's a number that will get you ranked. Probably worth an experiment in and of itself - though I'm quite sure you'd want more than 8 :) I'm thinking if you got X number of domains with DA>(?) and a significant number of referring IP's, you'd probably rank just about anything... in my opinion it's all about authority/trust flow, provided your on-page is all good for your money keyword.

Sorry not clear for me. so for example a ratio of 1:1 for sape. So 50 sape and 50 301'd domains?

... 1 301 for ALL of his sape links, 1 301 for ALL of his other diversity/spam links making it a total of 2 301s.

Hey Tony

Is this still effective as of today and if so, are you only 301'ing one site to the money site or do you have more than 1 buffers?

cheers

As I've said earlier in the thread - I have two domains that I 301 - one for sape, and one for spam. Have a read through the entire thread, there might be some other useful stuff you've missed :)

Do either of these two domains have content before they are redirected?

I've tested it both ways, and it really doesn't seem to make any difference. Though, it's about time for a re-visit, because that test was over 6 months ago.

I love how this thread quickly became tony_d's! Awesome advices from a PRO :)

Now somebody give this guy a blue name ;)

I recently registered a new domain and redirected it immediately after registration through registrar to money site . I started to make mixed links High PR and Web2.0s etc. It worked and the money site ranked within 10 Days for the main keywords I was targeting.

I have not tested redirection after adding content so more feedbacks will be appreciated.

Can you give some more advice about directing separately for High PR and other spam links? Does it make any difference if you use both types of links on same domain and redirect it to your money site?
