Since one of my competitors is trying to downplay the importance of High Retention YouTube Views, because they are having issues delivering the views, I decided to give proof of the importance and show it does matter and does exist, directly from the mouths of YouTube themselves. Since I refuse to out this person in their own BST, I figured instead I would just post the proof here, instead of directly responding to the BS that it's not important, since they're having issues delivering it.
From G/YT:
"Watch time is golden
In the past, the number of views on a video drove its discovery and rank. Videos getting the most clicks were rewarded, rather than those that held the longest viewer attention. Now, YouTube looks at watch time - the actual amount of time people spend watching your videos - rather than only the number of views, as a more accurate gauge of how a video performs. Views only show the number of times a video was accessed, but not how much of the video was watched.
YouTube suggests videos in search and recommendations that are likely to increase how much overall time a viewer spends watching and we use watch time to improve the ranking of these videos in search and recommendations. If people click on your videos but don't stick around to watch, your videos won't get shown as often in suggested and recommended videos and growth in new views may slow. Now, if your videos drive more watch time or inspires your viewers to check out a related video (either yours or someone else's) your channel gets an advantage!"

You be the judge. Do you want to believe someone who is having issues delivering High Retention views and down plays the importance or even existence of it when ranking, or do you want to take the proof and common sense of it and know the importance?
I just want to be clear; I would have never started this, had they not made bold claims. This effects my sales by them writing that it's not important, since I do provide High Retention views. This was posted to discuss, not to argue/start beef. I refuse to allow someone to feed BS to their viewers/customers due to their current issues with providing the service, but I also respect the rules here and won't post in a competitors thread.
