When I listen to the radio, I don't have to pay for it...

If a project on this scale ever does come into existence it would surely take a helluva lot longer than 1.5 years to complete. As far as 802.11x compliance... as lots of people are pointing out, that would certainly be a pretty incredible accomplishment.

Ambitious is in understatement.

Free WiFi for everybody on every square inch of the earth? What's next? Robots replacing humans actors on the big screen? Programs with perfect pitch voices replacing human singers in the music industry? Oy vey.

"Using a technique known as User Datagram Protocol (UDP) multitasking, which is the sharing of data between users on a network, Outernet will beam information to users."

Also known as Unreliable Datagram Protocol.

It always gets my back up when companies like this try to raise money from the public. If the idea was good enough/viable enough they would have investors lining up around the street. We all remember what happened with Mars One..

They raise 10million to get this started, the owners pay themselves a nice salary of 500k/year, this shit fails miserably and they lose none of their own money. GG.

Exactly this - and noone can get out of this insane shit.
I guess will be at the beginning of the end of having healthy lives
This is awesome! I wonder if they can pull it off safely without frying us in the process.
Cancer for everyone!

Yeah, because you know: at the moment we don't have satellites and radiowave devices all around us! Shoot up one satellite and we die off instantly! Fuck logic...

Personally I wouldn't bother with any satellite-based Internet (or Outernet, lol) solution, it's simply way too slow for anything else than checking up email, which you couldn't do in the first place because it's not the Internet anymore.

Also doubt this is not a very viable idea really.

And the ping will be like 30 seconds ? Nah, thanks.

Bad news to all guys don't support this because we cannot live in this earth if this happened because lack of oxygen and high of radiation. Trees will die and birds too! then we don't see anything like Natural by the way we would like Elysium. Earth is gonna apart of Elysium isn't it? High tech Stuffs killing is day by day! Even when you plug headbutts for an hour you'll get more bacteria as soon as possible..

Sounds like another Tesla project that will get shot down.

Doubt it'd be much more than the current satellite latency, which is like 600-1000ms.

Actually it's very high latency, I hope between 100-200ms :) Because they will give us with gbps rather than mbps :P

So you think faster transfer speed means less latency?

I tought from your first post that you're just trolling, this one confirms it.

not actually like that!! I told you the Fact of the reality, Everyone has advantages and disadvantages.. So First i was proved you the disadvantage because of major loose in our planet.

latency is data transfer between the main server to your PC. Anyway Outernet coming from UDP (user data gram protocol) First it comes to one device after that from device to device... So it's going to device to device, Actually Satellite should need a good amount of bandwidth ideally it should in 1000Gbps to work properly otherwise there would be congestion with device to device.
