I guess will be at the beginning of the end of having healthy lives

Its non-ionizing radiation, much less harmful (if at all) than the one coming from the Sun. There is no study at the moment, that can show some connection between cancer and RF.

There will be many contradictors, but I think it will be managable in the future.

Sounds pretty cool. Imagine what things will be like in 10 years - Internet will be like oxygen.

and skynet is born.

Like cold fusion I seriously doubt that it will happen but an interesting project nevertheless.

Won't happen.

Not all countries are going to accept this and obviously there would be tons of people against it...

If the project was viable, believe me, they would have had already an investor.

Found this on reddit

As a HAM radio operator for over 30 years I can say with great cetainty that this is a MASSIVE load of crap!. These guys have nothing but vapor. Wifi lacks the power to work from satellite, and the round trip travel time will cause the TTL timer to expire, causing nearly every packet to be discarded unless both the satellite and the ground station have customizations in the radio firmware. Also, EVERY participating ground station is going to need a BIG, high-gain directional antenna, with an accurate tracking system to follow the satellite as it passes over, just as EVERY other low earth orbit satellite does. The radio will require the facility to adjust for Doppler shift, which exactly ZERO wifi radios have. These guys are COMPLETELY high on crack if they think that they can go from concept to LAUNCHING DOZENS OF FUCKING SATELLITES INTO SPACE in ONE AND A HALF YEARS!

its gonna be slow... but better than nothing i guess.

2400 bps is a very achievable goal! We're targeting 100-200kbps, but this is by no means finalized. The biggest roadblock that we are dealing with right now is the 802.11-spec, which requires minimum receive speeds of 1Mbps. We want to be absolutely wifi-compliant, but these rates make the spacecraft design a very challenging problem. It's not unsolvable, but nowhere near as simple as providing a 2.4 kbps transmission.

Didnt read post but it wont happen anytime soon and probably not within the next decade.

This sounds like an NSA wet dream.

on a side note if this is really possible I can see zuckerberg as a possible backer seeing as he's into the whole free internet for everyone thing.

This is awesome! I wonder if they can pull it off safely without frying us in the process.
