Scammed $4500 on flippa What should I do

Change your perspective. You're not going to get the money back. If you do, it's going to cost you more than that to file charges.

Look at it as a learning experience. It's all about perspective. We all make mistakes, and usually they cost money. I wish my mistakes only cost that much.

Just never make the same mistake again. Always use escrow.

SO, why don't you tell us who he is?
ANd by the way, after one day at Flippa I realized that 99% of those sites are crap and sellers are just a small timers trying to show either fake stats, or fake earning or fake something. Like, PR6 sites or sites that takes 10 seconds to load, yet sellers claim that they are earning thousands of dollars each month. (using web archive you can see it is a new site,,,etc)

Sigh. Good luck, but yeah, the bank should be able to help if you paid with a CC and not from funds that were in Paypal.

Flippa is a falling mountain.

I feel sorry that you had to loose that kind of money, but go make a deep research what ways you have available for taking the money back.

When u pay with PP did you put it in as a gift or service?

Flippa doesn't help you as all they will do is to ban the seller if you win the dispute but you will never see your money again. Also, Paypal will side him as it was digital goods so not too much you can do than try to eat your loss and be smarter next time even it hurts now.

So the total price of the website was $9000?

Flippa won't do anything. As much as Flippa is a scam haven, it's not their responsibility to get your funds back here, either.

If the seller is in Bangladesh you aren't getting your money back unless he decides to do the right thing and pay you back. If you have proof of sale (e.g. through Flippa) and proof of payment (I am assuming you have a reference?) then you could probably call Sedo and explain that your domain has been stolen and it shouldn't be for sale.

Keep pressuring the seller to pay you back, though. Do some research on his username/email/name and see if you can find any other accounts he has on forums. You can at least make his life difficult (e.g. if he is an established member here).

Flippa is not going to help you as they are just middleman and not responsible for the transactions. They will suspend the seller when you give them proof but that doesn't help you.

As long as u you used paypal and the money came directly from your bank account, or debit card or credit card u can recover the funds very simple..call your bank and file a "chargeback" against paypal u will win 100% of the time. However if u transferred the money from your bank to paypal u can still recover using the way .....now if u already had that money in your paypal account then your screwed.

Chargebacks should only be used when a scammer thinks he's going to get over its NOT! to be used against legit service providers

@GreenGoblin the OP mentioned the funds came from paypal balance. File a dispute with PP anyway so this way his account will be restricted. Call PP and tell them what happened. Call their fraud department. File a dispute with flippa and keep emailing him and harrassing him.

By the way how much is the domain listed on Sedo.

Contact your credit card company (or bank) and dispute the charge ASAP.

I don't know much I think you should file a dispute as a unauthorized transaction tell paypal that you did not make this transaction don't know may be this will help.

This is what i should be doing.
Next thing you should do is instead of crying after things are done you should have made the same thread before making the payment.
When you're on bhw you should keep this is mind there are some great site flipping modes that you will ever find in any forum or anywhere on the web. They're still trying to help you but if you have used there services or advic you would have never been into such situation.Learn From your mistakes.

you can call the bank or credit card company tell them you didnt unauthorized transaction that traction they will contact paypal about it

if you paid thru paypal and it went thru your bank... charge back thru the bank.. im pretty sure you didnt have the entire $4k in your paypal account. But you can do that.. If you did have the whole $4k in paypal... I wish you the best of luck m8....
