Hey, interesting journey good luck!

I have thought about going into Kindle as well several times, mainly because it's completely cost free. I have a few questions.

- Do you get someone to proof read your texts?
- Do you illustrate the cover yourself or hire someone to do so?
- From reading your thread I take it that it's allowed to have affiliate links in the ebooks. Have you checked with amazon about that or you're just kind of doing it?
- Would you share a list of the websites where you promote your free ebooks? I've read that you can't have the ebooks uploaded or available anywhere else than amazon, therefore I imagine that these websites are just sort of directories where you put your amazon link, correct? If you don't want to share the whole list I would understand, but a couple links would make me happy
- I see you've changed the prices of your books. Originally they were $2.99 and $1.99. Why did you change?

Are you doing keyword research on Amazon before you choose your niche? I realize some are still in free promo, but 6 sales for 8 books seems really low to me. Dating back 2 weeks ago, seems they should be selling more than 6, that's 1 sale per book in 2 weeks? Hopefully it turns for you.

IMO make money online books is hard to sell at Amazon.

A lot of them are uploaded for free, with one clear purpose of building a list or selling something ... Meaning, you won't really get anything out of the product. I would never buy a kindle book on the subject. Remember, you're catering to internet marketers ... computer sawy people ... they don't buy ebooks on internet marketing at Amazon.

Maybe other niches, like travel, arts and crafts, fashion, cooking, fitness etc. are more profitable. On a sidenote: that's why I like Pinterest and Tumblr traffic so much, becuase it's full of old women who click ads a give away their email easily.

I've been watching just about every Kindle journey, and they usually fizzle out within 3 weeks. There is only one that has been going strong, but it is more of a Kindle resource than a journey. The longest successful Kindle journey thread I have watched lasted 4 weeks, then the OP disappeared. Disappointed here too.

I just started my journey today! Book is live this morning and was going to keep it close to the vest before I try another journey thread. If it has legs in a few weeks I think I might give the journey thread one good effort.

- Do you get someone to proof read your texts? Nope I proof read them all myself. It's something that takes time, espcially if you have many pages to proof read. One good tip for proof reading is, always read out aloud and slowly as if you were reading it to a child. Sometimes if you read it in your head, your brain will see what it 'supposed' to say and not what you actually typed.
- Do you illustrate the cover yourself or hire someone to do so? Do my own. Just look at some other similar covers for ideas and through one together in about 30 mins at most.
- From reading your thread I take it that it's allowed to have affiliate links in the ebooks. Have you checked with amazon about that or you're just kind of doing it? I'm sure i said its not ok to have affiliate links in your books. I don't do it. What I do instead is have a link to a mailing list and try and capture emails. This is better than sending to an affiliate link because 1) you can email them when you release another similar book and 2) you can send them newsletters and offers for your affiliate products over and over again.

However, go to the downloads section and search for 'kindle'. The list I used was in one of the kindle downloads. Sorry I can''t be more help on this, I have been focusing on just publish books for now and not so much on promotion. I submitted one book so far and it didn't help that much. I think these kind of lists are mainly good for fiction as they do have mostly fiction on them.

Why did you change Well I am going for the lower price end because my books are not that long and I want the reader to feel they are getting value for money. Mainly to help stop negative reviews. I'd prefer to have no reviews than 1 negative review which ultimately could result in the book not making any sales.

I have done some research here and there but not a great deal. I am trying to focus on writing about things I have knowledge about and subjects I have an interest in. Sales are pretty low at the minute but I am more focused on getting more books out there than promotion for now. My main 'make money online' book is actually the one that has brought most sales at the minute. I think the reason is because readers will feel some benefit to my book. It's kind of an idiot proof guide to building a website tho and not something thats generally offered for free.

Sorry about the delay in updating! I had a break for 2-3 days from writing while I was in the process of trying to sort my sleep pattern out. I was feeling so tired everyday that I didn't do any work related stuff at all. I also didn't get any emails from BHW about replies so assumed there had been none.

I am going to start writing again today, I have an idea for a series of guides for a video game that I think could do quite well.

Updated Stats: 8 Books published. 18 sales (3 today). 11 total email subs. 1 signup to a poker aff program.

Quick Update:

8 Books published. 20 sales. 1 Borrow.

A cook book I published has recently come off the free promotion period. It was a niche book with only about 35 recipes and received slightly more than 1600 downloads and got 2 reviews (1 Star and a 4 Star).

Today I finished my 9th book which is going to be the first in a series of 9 mini books which I will then use to make 1 bigger book as soon as they are all completed. I have a good feeling about this one. I'm hitting a niche that has zero competition at the minute and this particular kind of "niche" is going to grow very fast and very big over the next few months.

This is a great journey, well done OP. It shows that Amazon drives a lot of free downloads during the promotional period, which can then lead to sales once you have better stats/reviews. And the affiliate links work too. Very inspiring, keep up the good luck and I hope you get more sales soon.

Quick Update:

9 Books published. 24 sales. 1 Borrow.

Another quick update 9th book was published today and is now live! Hopefully I will have the 10th done by later today or sometime tomorrow. Sales are slowly improving now which I assume is from Amazon cross promotions as I have done zero promotion myself.

At the minute I don't know whether time is going to be better spent on publishing more book or promoting the ones I currently have published? Hmmm. I think I will get this series of books finished and published and maybe look at what might be best from there. If sales keep coming like they are, I think publishing more books might be the better option and just work on getting more and more books out there.

My first book went live Sunday. FREE promo for two days started yesterday. 200 downloads on first day of FREE promo and four 5 star reviews as of noon today. I will give you a final total at midnight for the two day FREE promo.
