Weebly + Google Adsense + Amazon experiment failed?

Hi All!

I am sure some others have already tried this and made some monkeys. So 2 weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to build a legit looking web2.0. Not for backlinking purposes just to see if it will rank for a certain keyword. This should have totally worked, but I don't know what the hell. Here are my steps:

1) Picked a niche and a product from amazon (Moz Competitiveness 31 - 6,000 local searches),
2) Created a weebly account
3) Found some content re-wrote the whole thing by hand. As unique as it can get.
4) Placed the ads and amazon affiliate links all nice. Optimized the page title, description etc.
5) Submitted it to Google and got indexed the next day right away
6) Pointed 5-10 backlinks using Link Emperor - web2.0s only.

The problem is the page appears in google index, but the keyword I am trying to rank for is not even in the top 500???. Why wouldn't this work? Is weebly dead or google is getting smarter?

Please share your thoughts. BTW, this would be a good freaking method if it worked. Only took me 1.5 hours to wire up.

I think you need to have a look at some of PHPBUILT's guides on here if you haven't already. He goes over a lot of on-page SEO and recommends to not even bother buying links until you're ranking so that you can troubleshoot your pages better.

I suspect your issue is over-optomization and that's exactly what he goes over. I can't post links, but if you do a Google search for "PHPBUILT" you should see one called "PHPBUILT's Idiot-Proof Guide to Authority Site Building". It's long, but worth the read.

Ads? Whats ads? What are you talking about?

You don't have to read it. I'm just saying it would be a really good idea considering there's obviously something you're doing that's not working. He's a well respected member on this forum and his post has a lot more than just information on building an authority site. He discusses on-page SEO and over-optimization of keywords.

Maybe you're doing everything by the book, who knows, but I'm just saying that would be a good place to start if you haven't read it already.

Good for you. How does this answer my question though? I am talking about a method which could help others on here. If the goal was to learn how to optimize a page the right way I would post my question in some other section.

You have to do on-site SEO for EVERY website you want to rank, be it a subdomain on web 2.0 like your weebly site or a website on a TLD domain, otherwise two things will happen:
1st you will get frustrated, waste your time and you will NEVER rank!
2nd you will come here moaning like a crybaby opening an useless thread on this forum! Why useless ? Because members try to help you and you start bashing them, well kid that is not the appropriate attitude and as someone else said you don't deserve any help at all, hell you don't even deserve me or anyone else wasting our times to respond in your thread.

Oh and last thing, on-site SEO applies to every website - micro niche, authority, landing page, video, or experimental websites, so your comments are completely irrelevant, not those of the other members above!

I Prefer CPA over Adsense. With Adsense you are always at risks.

Point some more authority back-links to your site 5-10 web 2.0's are not enough to rank.
