Yes and if they hand pick results, Google will no longer be a search engine, just a list, which people will have no need for, and move onto other search engines. Google will keep trying to fix something which is not broke, until they break it and no one will use it. Google will be its own downfall.

It's always the new members who say SEO is going to be dead. The only time it's going to be dead, when there's no demand for it. There will be always demand for it, because there can't be one website with all the information in it ( well you could say google is that, but it's a search engine ).
