Hi PHPBUILT,

Thanks for the great post! Here I have a question about the keyword density.

For example if my keyword is "get tall", it includes some silimar keywords like "grow tall" or not? I think now google consider get tall same as grow tall, now the density is two keywords' density or not.

1% or less -- get tall

or

1% or less -- density of "get tall + grow tall"

I really like your thoughts, but what do you suggest for non-native english writers, like me? Are we doomed? :)

If your keyword is "feet tall" then it's density only counts when you add the same keyword "get tall" to your content. For "Grow tall" these are the LSI keywords and it will help your article to get good traffic but do not only put the closely related keywords like your second keyword have "tall" word. Just focus on LSI keywords like "increase height", "how to grow height" etc.. These keywords will help you to attain quality article.
 
Answer to the guy on the previous page:

Simply write the review longer? Then it is easy to get a lower keyword density, and you can mix it up with LSI (synonyms)

I tend to write my reviews like this:
- Strong intro. Capture with some questions.

'Do you want to travel and explore the world while you are making money from your laptop? This may sound like some far-off dream, but did you know that ...'

- General 'what will you get?' 'What's inside' Pictures + walking through the TOC. Dry and not super salesy. I guess most people won't read all of this. I put it there to show them that I've used the product, and to provide value and establish authority. I could write something like this:

'If you've been in internet marketing earlier, you can skip the first chapter and head straight to chapter 2 -- Starting your blog. Here Chris will show you exactly how to set up your blog, but more importantly he'll tell you what not do do. Out-of-the-box, most blogging platforms are not optimized for traffic, therefore ...' 'Chapter three will introduce you to copy writing -- the most important skill in internet marketing. Getting traffic is the easy part, but converting that traffic to cash requires ...'


- Strong ending with bullet points 'Why is it better than yyy'


'So to sum things up Work From Home 101 will teach you the basics on:
* How to set up your own blog
* How to write content that will get love from search engines, readers and social media
* How to get traffic

All of this is pretty basic. He explains it well, but you can also find this in other courses, however what I liked in particular is:
* The 50 pages with copy writing sweeps. This is unique content, and something I've never seen before
* The members only forum where Chris and his team ...

800-1100 words.

I'm not a copy writer, and English is not my mother tongue ... But setting up like this does convert ... However, I am split testing and tweaking these all the time.

I couldn't pass by this thread without saying what a mental job you've done outlining the key steps to creating a website. I can understand why you considered the DCMA angle since the value of what you have written here is so great. I reckon this will end up being one of those 'legendary' threads almost as common as whizz gizmos back in the black thread (or whatever it's called!). Anyhow, just wanted to do some back slapping since it's deserved, great contribution mate.
 
Another tips -- a bit outside the scope of the thread -- is to check out the free ebooks over at Copyblogger (I can't post links). Well written, concise and free books about copy writing (persuasive writing), writing shareable content, and ... well ... how to write for web in general.

They're especially good for us non-native speakers.

Over at Fiverr, people will proffread xxxx words of content for USD 5 ... It is well worth the investment. Poorly written content looks spammy, and it will make you less monetas -- and people will question your authority when your writing is monotone, boring or hard to read. I do, at least.

Hi PhpBuilt

I have a brief question about this. Let me know if I'm understanding this correctly. If I'm targeting a keyword like "16gb mp3 player" and my unique words in the title are "with bluetooth 3.0" you would do a broad search (not exact) for 16gb mp3 player bluetooth 3.0 and then if you're in the top 20 you're good? Reason I'm asking is I setup serpbook for this and instead of setting my keywords to something like "16gb mp3 player bluetooth 3.0" I have them all at "16gb mp3 player". Also, you're talking about broad match not exact on the search results, am I correct?

Thanks for the clarification. I'm pretty sure this is what you mean but before I totally redo my SerpBook keywords I want to make sure I got this right!

You're probably not getting $300+ an article? So I would suggest you start making your own sites! Takes a little to get them off the ground, but in the long run its far better. :)

The writing doesn't have to be Pullitzer Prize winning, you just need to pick good keywords and write at the proper densities. There's no reason a non-native speaker couldn't do this.

I would avoid that guide or just take what's useful from it. I don't think it works anymore. I followed it and wasted quite a bit of time and money. The site I built following that guide wouldn't even rank 50 with backlinks (and I know I can rank that niche because I have other sites targeting the exact same keyword sets on page 1). Maybe it worked a long time ago, but it's not effective anymore. Would love to hear phpbuilt's input on it too.

Following your guide, my previous problem with keyword targeted wrong pages are now partly solved.
I am so happy that finally I could solve this problem without even building more links.
No serp rank change at all.

First of all, thank you for your time and excellent guide.
Second... what do you think about -900 or the "end of result" penalty? Is this a OOP penalty? I have two websites sitting on the last pages of SERP for every keyword, even for the domain name.

I've been going over this thread for about a week and implementing all the changes I can to 2 test sites. I just signed up for serpbook last night and dropped my url's and keywords in, so, I'm sure it will be a week before I can get a feel for the data. So far though 4 of my pages jumped into the rankings overnight (they weren't even in the top 1000 and I made some mass edits a couple days ago) and a couple more jumped up 20 or so spots. Keep in mind I'm still new at generic content making. Bottom line is I'm starting to see results that I can track. You're scaring me PHPBUILT, this might work nicely if I stick to it and can comprehend everything.
 
As mentioned in section 3, every page of your website should be targeting a unique set of keywords that are related to the entire theme of your site, but warrant their own page. On my sites, for the subpages, I like to target pages which focus on (a combined) 500 to 15k exact match keywords. When I say "combined", I mean if the singular of a keyword is 170, plurl is 170, and another keyword extremely similar is added to the page -- the total combined keywords are at least 500.

Can someone explain this part? how can one page focus on 500 keywords? I don;t understand those numbers...
 
Thanks again PHP for starting this thread and providing guidance to newbs like me. Also thanks to everyone else that's provided advice to the thread also.

I was looking through the Google WebMaster Tools to get better familiar with it and I can see this is another tool that is extremely important on knowing how to use it. I was looking at some of the issues one one of my sites and under Search Appearance/HTML Improvements I had 16 Short Meta Description issues. Is the Meta description on a WordPress site beneficial to help with site ranking, article ranking or both? :-)
