Hey guys, I've been around for nearly a year now, but not long ago I've started improving my SEO skills.. I have a simple question:
I've started a blog and everything I do is whitehat, I've started doing some manual Yahoo answers, and submiting my article's links as source..

I'd like to know how long does it usualy take for a backlink to be taken into consideration when ranking on serps?
Also, where do you suggest I should do these kind of off-site seo more? Yahoo answers, Youtube, somewhere else maybe?

I'm looking forward for your replies, thank you a lot!

In my opinion, once the backlink gets indexed. I would go with using services to index the backlinks. Linklicious and Lindexed are most popular around the forums. If not, you can always post your links on Google + and get some +'1s. I've found that indexes links fast.

Usually when google updates, and since it has updates very frequently, they are will probably taken into consideration very quickly.

Also, try to build links to your backlinks as it will help to give them more credentials...

I'm a review tester on a fast indexer here on BHW, it actualy indexes my link within 5-10minutes, and the guy who runs the service says it's 100% whitehat..

If I post inside a yahoo ansers page with my site's link on it, what should I try to index then? (the Question's link right??
Let's say for example I've answered here with my site's link:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20131110093523AAatBUk

What should I try to index in this case? And could you please be more specific about building links to my backlinks?
You mean, like post the Yahoo quetion's link of the post, somewhere else to make a backlink of that?

Thanks a lot for helping guys, this means a lot to me, thank you!

yes that's true. As soon as the link is indexed you will see some results. I guess you should put attention to your content. Guest posting is good for building up quality links on topical websites.

It depends on that link's authority. If it's a high authority link it'll get considered almost immediately. If you could have a link from a PR 10 page, for ANY anchor, you'd rank immediately(immediately = in hours or a couple of days max).

But for a PR 1 you'll need weeks or months....even if you index it fast, it'll require a while. Google says it takes 6 months for a full rebuilding of their index, they mention this in webmaster tools when you change website address.

The SERP will rise only when the backlinks are indexed. I use web 2.0 sites with quality and unique articles and embed a backlink to my money site. the web 2.0 sites takes time to index ... wordpress, tumblr, hubpages, blogspot takes 24 hours with out doing anything to index. For other sites i use onlywire.com free trial account for 7 days. Social signals helps to get the backlink index faster. After few days the backlinks are indexed the SERP climbs up :D

Concentrate on posting article backlinks on directories and on web 2.0

I agree with "bartosimpsonio" that link authority is a key factor in indexing a website. We can take an example like "Facebook". It is very high authority site and Google crawls its data in a very short period of time in comparison to other low authority websites.

You can't go 100% white hat, never. 100% white hat means doing nothing imo.

try white-hat SEO along with social media services. I am doing the same methods and got good result :)

In terms of SERPs, it can take a week or so to see results (even though "yes" PR is updated frequently)

I guess it really differs. Some backlinks seem to have immediate effects and some others take ages. It is hard to tell which backlink has what effect.

Once they get indexed, you will start getting the benefit. At the same time, pay attention to Q&A websites, web2.0s , video submission websites, pdf file sharing, manual bookmarking to get your site moving up.

It's really different depending on where the links are from. Expired domains with a high DA usually take only a few days to a few weeks. Other links may take over a month or more.

I would allow a couple of weeks for new backlinks to make an impact. However, yahoo answers may not really be enough to help you rank, you need contextual backlinks from different sources. Try getting do follow links where possible.
