Why is your post formatted like it's raw HTML?

It's tough. Can't attest to any differences between American and Australian regulations but I know that from what I've read - which is a lot - it's far from an ideal situation. The best you can (potentially) pull off is using a person's house and opting to not display the address in your G+ listing, which I'm not actually sure you can still do and it doesn't have any positive effect on your citations, being that NAP is integral in forming an effective citation profile.

I'll put it this way, I can't recall ever seeing a listing in the 7-pack with no address, and you'd be wise to not use a home address for a business that isn't operated from a home.

Google will snail mail you a code to the mailing address to activate your g-places. So unless you are a brick and mortar, or a home based business, it's tough. Otherwise, you will have to borrow someone's address (that you know) and ask them to look for the code in the mail.

You could also verify your business through phone, so g would have had to somehow picked up on your business and its phone number first - not sure where they pull their business info from, but I'm sure that's a way to start, and I'm sure it takes a really long time, but I think it is possible. Never tried. Best bet is doing what @scoopmaster said :)

Thanks everyone , it sounds difficult , I think there would be a business for somebody in a big city like NY or LA to rent a bunch of offices or organizes a mailing address place to open your google mail and confirm your address to G .
thanks again

Everyone is talking about phone verification as an alternative now - I'd sniff that out, were I you.

There's something called a virtual office.
Look into that, though Google may or may not be able to detect whether your declared address is just that (much like a P.O. box). Look into it and tell me what you find out.

There is no reason not to use an address, if you actually run a real local business.

This is not true.
Plenty of 'real' local businesses operate out of a home, at which customers are not welcome. Imagine services like baby sitters, or house sitters, or dog walkers, or maids, or gardeners. Are they not legitimate businesses just because they don't operate from a storefront?

You can still get phone verifications even if you dont have a real address, we're doing it consistently and training people how to do it too.

You can make your own local lead generation machine this way

Hi, I am interested. can we discuss that? Ready to pay $$$

im from malaysia, and try it and realise google only verify by postcard mail. does anybody here has good idea regards this?

If anyone knows how to do this, it is Chad. Mind you, recently there has been many methods publicized, so things may be getting even tougher soon. Assuming Google gives a crap and seals the holes, which is probably a long shot.

Try looking for a virtual office, or if you know someone who has an office space you might even be able to use their address (for a monthly fee) but you use a suite number. Many business's such as lawyers for example operate out of the same address but they are as follows, 123 fake street, suite #25 and 123 fake street, suite #26. As for phone numbers you can rent a number and divert it to your mobile if you wish. This is a great thing to do as it allows you to track exactly which customers are coming from your local G listing.
