Have any of you reported a competitor to google?

They have a section on webmaster tools to "Report Paid Links"

I have a site that is ranked very well, but our competitors have recently out ranked us. We do not do any link building because our brand is very strong, however our competitors use link building services. It's easy to see by their ahref and other services. I want to report them, but I just wanted to get some opinions from the members here. I know it's a D move, but it's worth a lot of $$$ to me.

I think buying somebody some links and reporting them is the ultimate blackhat seo maneuver, but I'm sure it's possible to have success by imposing arbitrary sets of rules on yourself too.

Why do some B.tch a$$ $hit like that??

I hate when ppl can't just fucking compete.

This kind of crap ruined CL marketing and goes on far too much on Youtube

Get your weight up!

instead of figuring how to be a D and trying to play unfair, figure out how to rank yourself higher, and you will make more money in the end . Looks from what you posted that your lazy to link build , and you just want to cry baby that you have to do some work finally.

SEO is not a backlink race. If you're unwilling to use any means at your disposal to rank, you're unlikely to beat those who use every means at their disposal to rank.

I'm not buying them any links. I was saying they purchased links.

I am competing. I've been on top for 5 years, and have great authority links from all the top sites in my industry. Actual articles and press written about our products, but 1 of our competitors has nothing but spam links, and now out ranks us. It's not that I want to "report" them, I'm just angry they got my #1 spot and I want retribution :) Ya feel me.

We've worked hard for years to have those rankings "naturally" so to speak, and some guy buys a link building package and out ranks us. Yea, f that guy.

I think you're on the wrong forum.

LOL I hear ya.. This is the only site I have all "White Hat" stuff for. I'm complaining to the wrong group for sure.

NVM everyone.

The way Google has made the rules, they've set things up for a very dirty playing field. Disavowing links, reporting competitors, negative SEO - all these are collaterals from Google's policy of monopolizing link control

Links should be freely bought and sold and the free market should regulate itself. Google wants a centralized economy of links where they determine what is good, what is bad. Thus you get this childish scenario we have today.

Karma is a bitch. And if you're brand is really that strong they wouldn't outrank you. The smart thing would be to buy the same links they're buying and get your rankings back.

Matt Cutts must be wetting himself when he reads these threads!

Be angry if you like . Use that as MOTIVATION to kick their ass (the right way..)

Don't resort to b.tcha$$ $hit. When you do that all you do is help contribute to the disease of b.tcha$$ne$$....

I think you are looking for the Pussy Hat Forum, this is a Blackhat forum, we tend to discuss link building here, not blowing competitors in to Google because they are better at their jobs than us.

not this old chestnut ,reporting people for doing a better job than yourself . i cant put into words how i think about you without getting banned but you get the picture

this is some holy crap. If you have been ranking for 5 years then you already have a huge client coverage + you should have covered brand marketing through youtube, twitter etc. Rank only matters for initial capital requirements.

Cheers.

this is a moral question and no one but you can make this decision.
