i used a few hosts and worked with people who have different host some of them you even never heard of LOL.
I personally used Hostgator shared and Dedicated Hosting and found it way more better than some of the other companies you mentioned here.
Btw, there are lot of complains regarding hosting after Hostgator was sold by the real owner.
and yeah i noticed slow customer support and response time issue too while working with some of the clients after hostgator was sold.
I think at the end it comes to workforce and management how good they are, how professional is the work staff, server location, bandwidth and such stuff.
Thinking of giving a shot to NameCheap hosting now.....

What pro and cons you have found in Hostgator VS Namecheap Hosting if you used them?
Is it okay to answer even if it's not Namecheap? I'll just use all of the hostings I've tried and still using.
HostGator - I have four blogs hosted on my shared hosting at HG, but I must say that each blog only receive around 30k visitors monthly with the exception of one (still around 3k monthly). This year alone I had two downtimes which lasted for 45 minutes each, I forgot what happened to them but it's something major. Aside from that, it lives up to its promise. Awesome customer service too.
BlueHost - best customer service so far, had some terrible months when my sites were down a couple of hours a week, but I no longer have this issue. The customer service part being awesome maybe due to a partnership I have with them, though. I have two blogs hosted with them.
WPWebHost - my second web host, it's okay. I give it a 3.5/5. Well, I think that's terrible, but migrating my sites hosted there will be a pain, thinking of moving soon.
ASmallOrange - I tried them for just one year, the $25/year plan, only contacted support once. Aside from the occasional slowness, if you're a budding blogger I recommend them highly. Support is okay too.
GoDaddy - never go to GoDaddy, this was my first host and I thought all host were terrible..it turned out I only landed on a terrible service first time.
MediaTemple - according to online reviews, MT is one of the best..and it's expensive. My experience with them was terrible, not sure if it's my lack of technical understanding, but I had a hard time setting up with them. I no longer use them. I was with them for only a week so I really can't comment on their good side.
RackSpace - Expensive but one of the best. I recommended this to two clients and so far I'm yet to receive a complaint. Technically I didn't use it.
Eleven2 - they were great from 2005 - 2011. After that, frequent downtime. I'm not sure if they have a 24/7 customer support on stand by.
As for promoting web hosts, I only promote three (HG, BH, and RackSpace), but my method of promoting is not via forums. I promote using emails/signatures/and sidebar ads, including guides on my own sites.
Maybe I'll try NameCheap hosting next?
(In case you're wondering why I'm using lots of web hosts, it's because it's part of my 'side work' to be as diverse as possible as a contingency.)
I guess we can all agree that if you're a new blogger, or hosting a new blog, most shared hosting services (except GoDaddy's!!!) are okay. But once you reach a certain amount of traffic, things will definitely get sluggish. You get what you pay for. In which case, moving on to a different host or package is highly recommended.
