First Scientific CryptoCoin - THE GRIDCOIN

yes that is me :) i am trying to spread the word.

I suppose some things may be changed along the way, this thing just started so I am sure there is plenty of room for improvement, but the most important thing is for this coin to get acceptance from everyone. Imagine how much power is on Bitcoin and Litecoin. Imagine if even a portion of that is used for this coin. How much more computing power will be available to researchers at these universities. We can have major scientific breakthroughs in a short time. Every single person on the planet can benefit.

Also, I find it hard to take seriously when they are using a weebly site: thegridcoinmatrix.weebly.com/

Your OP is here too: https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4995&p=67044

Well, Good Luck with it.
Like I said it sounds like a good idea adding BOINC but I always question peoples motives when they want to do good for others/society/mankind, maybe I am just an arsehole.
I don't think this is the first coin to implement the idea.

Anyone else taken a shot at this? I have run into a plethora of troubles getting the actual gridcoin mining to work, the rest works fine of course (BOINC, the GRC wallet). I cannot for the life of me get the guiminer scrypt to function with cgminer....

what kind of problems are you getting?

If op is interested, here's a fairly large list: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_alternative_cryptocurrencies

what kind of problems are you getting?

I'm running the GUIminer scrypt, and I keep getting the error:

2013-11-04 14:28:33: Listener for "CGminer": [2013-11-04 14:28:33] cgminer.exe: -w: Invalid value passed to set_worksize

Here I sit thinking I'm tech savvy :| Never before have I felt this stupid in front of my own PC.

Are you currently mining? Any clue to my problem?

Those are just alternative currencies, gridcoin is the first one to combine the incentive to mine with boinc not to mention the technical aspects of the gridcoin blockchain itself and the block reward.
