I don't get this. Are you trying to sell a $12000 website to a petstore?

It sounds like you are a little too inexperienced for this project.

What exactly is the the client after? A Blog, website, CMS, e-commerce solution?
If the client has specific requirements then don't try to bullshit and offer him WP.
You need to be clear on what he wants.
If it can be achieved with WP then knock up a quick mock up and show him.
Offer him a discount for the WP option.

If you can out-source (NOT FIVERR) then do it. You can use The Marketplace or Hire a Freelancer sections.
If this is beyond your capabilities then be honest with him and tell him you can introduce him to somebody that can do it.
(There are people here who may be willing to work with you, just make a post in the JV section)

OK, if this is a large hotel then WP probably won't be suitable and they are probably looking for a custom solution.

If it is a small hotel then WP might work, do a google search for "wordpress hotel booking plugin"

I wouldn't bother learning sql. What you are looking for is called a web service and they do not use sql, they use XML. You'll need XML, XSLT, HTML, JavaScript and some CSS. They are all easy languages and can rake in allot of money not that web services are becoming popular. They can be pretty fun to make as well

Isn't that what operating a real business is? Outsource while you are on the beach sipping a mai tai? Are businessman should appreciate that if you are delivering quality work and customer service.

Understand your clients need first then try learning some things about database. You have nothing to lose in the coming days. If you are not confident about the task, then look for established workers who would do it for you cheaply. It would be better if you started off with such simple projects.

Focus on sales and outsource the work.

If you don't know the job, Don't try to do it. First learn the job what your doing, then you can accept these type of jobs.

If you are good at managing project then I recommend that you out-source the whole project and add your commission on top of it.
I did it in the past, I had no web skills, but I was good in project leading and could easily outsource all the needed work and talent. Clients liked to work with me, the designers and programmers got payed, everybody was happy.
