HI guys
i am kind of panic mode now

so the story is i want to start a website design and i made a site
but all i know is wordpress and there one potential customer asking me to make some html design website with admin database inside
i know i can outsource design but i don't know anything about database ( maybe i can outsource in fiverr later)

but should i take this job ( he asked for price ) and it seems complicated to me the database thing?

i don't know is this right thread place

forget to mention
i am speaking with him right now with email

Tell him you will look into it and send him a quote.

Try to see if there are any established providers that can do the job cheaply here on BHW (don't go to fiverr).

If you can't find anyone than tell him you are unable to accept the job.

From my experience, not all clients know what they want. Maybe you should understand their objective and ask if there are any particular reasons why they want to be in HTML + admin.

They might not know or understand WP at all, that's why their mindset is still HTML. Understand your client's objective first. That's the key.

at first i don't want to take it but hey i am leaving money on table
i am following NRE advice right now but the price is so high
it's $12.000 and i will sell it 13.000 i will tell him tomorrow

he don't want html site but he through me log in
and it's definetly not wordpress and it's look bad
so i guess it's html what he want is he can do administration things on website and that's the first time i saw it

Maybe it s better to learn how to handle databases for your future since you wanna build some websites, every customer will need Admin those days, why don t you start by learning a bit of sql ?

I agree, perhaps you should learn the basic of sql just so you understand how it works. Otherwise, it will be hard to become a good salesman without getting a general understanding or knowledge.

However, you don't have to go hardcore and knowing everything. Remember, you aren't a coder/developer (unless you want to be), you want to be a project manager / CEO of the company, and CEO doesn't sit and code.

$12.000 as in twelve thousand?

Or what?

What does he need (i.e WHY, coz there is more than 1 way to skin a cat as long as you get the same end result) - are you sure it can't be done with WP?

Damn, how you're finding these $10k+ customers for HTML and database stuff. Make an e-book, please!

PS: Don't bilk the customer if you're 100% sure what you're doing.

I see a lot of people building there site with whatever agencies in Europe and paying 10 to 15k for their website, those agencies just install templates, so sick, they think it s expensive so it s damn good...

$12,000 is a lot of money for doing something you're not quite sure about. It sounds like the scope of the project is well outside of being able to outsource on Fiverr.

I've been developing sites for about 10 years. If you need some help with the project, let me know.

Aah dude don't throw the job away. What's wrong with WP? If he didn't specifically say "I don't want Wordpress" then it's perfect for what it sounds like he needs. If he just wants a site he can log into, give me the job. I'll do it for less than $12,000 even :P

when i said that he said wow that too pricey
i will send pm to few member to tell what website panel look a like

close or not
i will still looking for a client that need me by hiring someone to cold calling
is pet shop easy to close website ?

I don't get this. Are you trying to sell a $12000 website to a petstore?

It sounds like you are a little too inexperienced for this project.

What exactly is the the client after? A Blog, website, CMS, e-commerce solution?
If the client has specific requirements then don't try to bullshit and offer him WP.
You need to be clear on what he wants.
If it can be achieved with WP then knock up a quick mock up and show him.
Offer him a discount for the WP option.

If you can out-source (NOT FIVERR) then do it. You can use The Marketplace or Hire a Freelancer sections.
If this is beyond your capabilities then be honest with him and tell him you can introduce him to somebody that can do it.
(There are people here who may be willing to work with you, just make a post in the JV section)

Good Luck
