Get Rid of 1500 Backlinks !!!

Hi,
A friend has 2 Wordpress blogs and for 2 years he gave me a home page backlink (anchor kw with link to my home page site).
He hasn't posted anything the last few months and Google change the PR of his sites from 3 to 2.
Today I made a search with SEO SpyGlass and Market Samurai to my website and I saw that I have 1500 backlinks with my main kw that I want to Rank well.
I want to know if it is better to remove those 1500 backlinks and how, because I read that Google like anchor variation since the last update and if it is secure to remove them or not ?

Is your site being affected by those links? Is it ranking? Did your site drop in rank? Has it ever ranked?

Just because his PR changed doesn't mean anything, removing them might well cause more harm than good.

Instead of removing 1500 links, why don't you concentrate on building more quality links with varied non keyword anchors?

That would be far more productive in my opinion.

I rank good but the last 3 months google drop me to the 2nd page results.

I agree with elschlongo. Google hasn't updated the PR form Feb 2013. Then how the PR of that site has changed?

In concern with that 1500 links, I also think that it will be more beneficial to make some non keyword anchor text like:

• Brand name
• Naked URL
• "visit us" and "click here" like phrase
• images
• Long tail (add more words in your anchor text)

I do not know when Google update the PR thats why I wrote "a few months ago" it might have been a year ago.... do not know !
I just mention it because I do not know if it has anything to do with it !!!

I agree with the above poster who said test it and find out, you could always ask your friend to put them back up if it makes things worse. I reccomend using generic.plain.branded anchor text - try to use no more than 20% anchor text (at the VERY MOST!)

You should focus on manual backlinks from now on then you won`t have any worries.
