Someone please explain the dusting the broken pottery under the museum. What's that supposed to convey? That we destroy history and then make it "better" by putting it on "display" in a sterile environment as opposed to in the world? Or is it about museums themselves being like...shady or something?
...And please explain the brain toast.

I asked because I'm hoping, just slightly, that an artist didn't go with a dictionary definition.
Hoping, just slightly.
And it doesn't even work in that definition. It's on display in a museum, not hidden.

Everything's turned to desert. No water on earth is symbolically shown as broken historic earthen pottery (they are history now, as there is no water left on earth) that are now useful only in the museums. Useless broken pieces, may be no one every visits the museum now, are swept carelessly in to history (museum).
Who cares about anything anyway now (at the time the artist projects)! Life is an endless dessert -- may be we will witness the sad happenings in our lifetime itself?!

Ok I'm gonna be bold and "attempt" to explain.
Sweeping the broken pottery may mean we don't really learn from history or we fail to learn from our culture.
I'll leave the brain toast part for someone else.

I think the one with the folks all looking at the spilt blue paint - while only a few feet away is the dead painter - of course no one was looking at or caring for him...

The irony is that today folks are just that used to seeing dead bodies all over the press media - internet - TV they become immune to all that sh1t...
But the same people are that busy watching X-Factor that they never go out on the streets, then when they do they see an overturned can of blue paint all over the sidewalk...
Then because they are brain dead human robots - they all look at the blue paint in amazement and think what the f*ck is that...

It's all about perspective. Every individual experiences life differently and based on those experiences understands certain aspects of life in different ways.
Sweeping under the carpet could represent: lack of effort, haste, hiding things, ignoring things
The artist most definitely has based this on his individual perspective but has left it for the audience to interpret their own meaning.
It doesn't work for you and your interpretation.

It's B-L-U-E!!! The color symbolizes --- water (and sky)! No one knows or has seen water or the blue sky any more since ages... the sky has turned fiery red, like blood. The earth has turned into dessert... blue, water-sky-peace... not to be seen any where!! Hence people are surprised at the sight of something blue -- may be they don't even recognize that there can be something like it --- blue! Blue symbolizes that there is no more water (may be water has gone now for a while that seems like decades or centuries; people have forgotten about it), blue sky, cold, peace, love, whatever you'd think when you see blue.
At that time in near future, people have forgotten the meaning of blue.... hence they are looking at that 'thingy' and not at the dead man. Death is too common, isn't it (then)? Death, blood, accidents are every day things... who'd have the time for that anyway?
P.S.:
Whatever is or was too common yesterday or today will become extinct tomorrow! Peace, fresh air, oxygen, water, seasons, cold, blue sky, etc... they aren't thought of something that could be precious, preservable, and life-saving. But come tomorrow, and .......
.

If you people like these kind of illustrations you should look for Andrew Judd's work. Pretty much the same though.
