How To Create An Authority Site - Solid Site Foundation

I want to know how long it takes for you to start seeing some decent traffic and start earning like 10$ per day? And I'd like to see a sample of your website, if possible. Thanks

Usually that happens after a couple of days because I create big sites and many long tail pages start rankings within few days. In 7 days I hit 10$ a day but what I'm after is the big numbers and that usually come after at least 1 or 2 months. Depends on more things such as competition, what SEO you do.

Because I have many sites, I will be able to risk one and show it but not on a public forum. I've been asked many times for my sites, If I see you are qualified to check it then you will have it.

Would love to see one of your sites and if you don't mind to share some of your newer site it would be great as I would love to see your link profile when the site is not yet gained the authority status. I'm in progress of setting up authority site and having 130+ posts but not getting too much traffic which is due to lack of SEO.

Thanks for the tips OP, seems you place great store by fast load times etc. There is quite a bit of speculation that this is something Google looks at, but I never would have thought to take it that far. Certainly I have used cache plugins, and I am not really in the market for any kind of dedicated server, but maybe I should at least do more in the way of getting page load times down and so on.

The model you talk about for creating an authority site totally works - thing is, most marketers are too lazy or stingy to invest money back in content and stuff. But really with a new site for the first few months at least I would plough ALL earnings back into new content, it really does pay further on down the line. It seems like Google IS placing less emphasis on backlinks, and is able to evaluate a lot of on-site quality factors - and good, fresh content is certainly one of them.

I have to add something, you can LOSE your authority status by getting greedy - I have done it several times on different sites! When you realise that your article will be indexed and ranking on page one within SECONDS of publication it is tempting to start putting out too much "money" content, if you know what I mean. Like, I had an IM-related site, and I was able to write "bla bla review" for the latest crappy Clickbank product and instantly beat out half the "launchjacking" crew on page one. Trouble is, even though I didn't do it much (promoting Clickbank stuff doesn't really sit well with me), I still did it too much and got a slapping in one of the Penguins, and now only rank for a few basic terms (and lost my sitelinks as well). So you have to be intelligent about targetting money keywords and put out plenty of non-money content too, another thing most IMers just can't seem to face doing.

Nice thread ZSO - All solid stuff. Recently I've been trying to get away from Wordpress cause the mass adoption is starting to scare me. I've been fiddling around with AnchorCMS and Pico (no db cms). Using different CMS in your tier 1, 2, and 3, can really help your "footprints" disappear. I'm just paranoid about having a thousand wordpresses I have to update all at once with every security update. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks ZSO!!! Great thread.

What would you say is a quality link?
A link from a relevant site?
a link from a high PR site?
Both?
What if the homepage has high PR, but not the page you get the link from?

I own a lot of domains and I have access to high PR blogs and sites. All of them are having an authority look, high domain authority, high page authority, high PR, high trust flow, filled with content (related or not). With 20-30 power backlinks it's impossible to not rank for your targeted keywords. If you go for high power backlinks then, in a 30 days time frame, your site will gain authority and trust and start ranking for many keywords and many longtail keywords.

When you get these links try to send many of them to first page (domain.com) because, if you have a decent site structure and good on page interlinking, the power (pagerank, authority, trust) will flow throw all important pages and posts. The site will rank for it's keywords while your posts will rank for many longtail terms and solid keywords. This is the authority advantage.

When you rank a site for it's posts and pages using a low number of backlinks that is called Smart SEO.

With web 2.0 blogs I follow the same rules. I'm only creating solid foundation blogs, make them look like authority, drop power backlinks like I've explained above (this time, we're talking about less number of backlinks), interlink it's post and pages, add content with images - videos - outbound links to other authority and news sites within that niche and I have a solid and powerful web 2.0 blogs that sends a contextual link to the site I want to rank. Google likes it, the blog is created on a solid site foundation and looks like authority, I get hot SERP boosts whenever I drop a link so everything looks and is great.

I can see the long term potential so I'm doing quality over quantity in many cases.

Less is more.

Hi ZSO thanks for your help!

I have a quick question, since you say you do your backlinks from high pr, authority looking sites, etc... do you think one could rank a site with a couple of guest posts in high pr sites? or it's a waste of time? And your links in your high pr sites to your money site are located in posts or on the homepage?

Thanks!!

loving the tips, this is definitely pro advice.
I am planning on using a vps windows server for my websites, any comments on that?

Can you please answer on this:

What is your approximate investment and after how many time you expect return of investment?
How much are you spending on content and how much on SEO and social promotion?
Do you use cheap $1 for 100 words writers from east, or you pay more for it?

May I see your site please.

Nice Tutorial!

With these frequent google updates, I sense that authority sites are going to rule the Serps.

Couldn't agree more...no need to blast thousands of links and get all crazy with like 35 interlinking strategies, etc.
Step 1: Find some decent links.
Step 2: That's 85% of the battle

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I was also planning to start a mix of adsense and CPA. Right now I am only doing CPA and youtube.
Being a starter, outsourcing the content is not quite affordable by everyone(including me). So I have a basic question if you can answer: How do you do keyword research? Because selecting proper keywords is half the battle won i guess.

And it would be great if you could share your site with me. :)

WOW! Such a good post!

One question:

Hi deki33,

I don't pay a vendor or a link builder for my SEO or social promotion. Most of my SEO consist of low amounts (remember less is more) of high authority links and very low amounts of web 2.0 blogs, blog comments and the traditional link building but I must repeat - in very low amounts. Less is more, quality over quantity. If I were to make an average on how much the SEO costs for a site will be then I'll say $3000-4000. This usually consist of 5, 10 or 15 extremely high authority spread over time and the traditional link building mix (sometimes web 2.0 blogs, bookmarks are not even required). Costs are high looking at the overall investment and the fat monthly bill (costs to maintain the network and so on).

How I get my writers solely depends on the niche. As example I have these women niche (women niches are very profitable hint hint) sites where I got mom-at-home type of writers that are extremely good and pasionate about the subject. Then I have sites where I'm hiring only general skilled writers from BSTs that can put out any decent article on whatever niche you have. However, most of my writers are stable mom-at-home as mentioned above or general skilled writers that are on a monthly contract and that can write for me at any time of the day. 3 or 4 writers are always enough for 1 huge authority site.

The article costs are premium, I need quality so I pay for quality. Think for the highest quality & highest price articles that are on the market, that's what I have for my sites. Anyway, that doesn't mean you can't go through with less expensive but that's how I do it - in future, if I want to, I can flip the sites for 6 figures (or more) but that's only because I put quality in everything.

To be frank I'm having many questions thrown at me, some are newbie questions but some are particular questions. I'll try to comprehend as many as possible questions in some next guides for all of you but please bare with me for a moment on the private questions (many are site audit and seo analysis kind of question and that do takes time) as it can take longer to respond on that kind of question.

I know that this is noob question but how do you get those high authority links? Do you buy them or they can be created manually somehow.
If you have any tut on this i will be very thankful if you share it.

You can use scrapebox for one, with the proper footprints and enough time, you can find some gems.
