Penguin 5 Update Learning’s so Far

Yes it was a little guide a made a while back for a friend? If you don't want to read about the learnings we have gained from the Penguin 5 update over a few hundred domains we set up purely for testing, I'm not too sure why you are even on this forum.

Meh, ignore him. There always has to be one dribble head that doesn't actually read the helpful article but instead decides to try and fail at trolling.

Yeah, just ignore me, because I don't post so I can attract visitors to my blog.
Before you read the helpful article please take the time and your yourself these following questions:

The random generated domain names, where they EMD, brandable, had they kw in url or were they all domains named falafelno1.com trying to rank for online casino?
What CMS was used and how was the on-page?
How much content was indexed, 10 pages, 50 pages, 200 pages ?
How about images & videos?
Web 2.0's, where they Blogspot, Wordpress etc or all Dolphin and Jcow sites?
Same with T1, what kind of Web 2.0, how much content?
Were they even indexed since there was no T2 created?

How valuable and accurate is the information?

Graph_v1.php

do you need any more info or hints as to why your rankings are dropping ?

ahrefs/majestic shows ALL Links pointing to your domain, not the links that Google is still counting after an update :)

Thanks for the update. So, how many different keywords do you use?

Nice to see someone doing some thinking, not just fishing for rep/thanks. :)

Awesome experiment. About what I would have expected for most of it.

But by "High PR links" you mean PR7, 8, 9 profiles like Angela & Paul links?

I wouldn't have expected those to have much effect.

Pff I guess its people like you that made me hesitant to post anything helping people out with this.

1. Random generated.. This would mean they are randomly generated... such as "ierjnerdwme" if you are doing a fair test how can you test it in a fair manner when some are keyword based and some not.. I guessed that was obvious.
2. CMS was wordpress all with same on page SEO not duplicated but keyword being in same place and mentioned same amount of times.
3. As I stated in the article if you actually read it I posted "each site had a new bit of unique content posted once a week" and each site started with 25 articles. Do the math.
4.No images or Videos it was a backlink profile test... the more images and videos we add clearly the more unfair the test becomes..
5. As stated again we tried to make the test as fair as possible. We used a mix off the well known web2.0s but a fair mix between both domains.
6. The web2.0s where given 5 bits of content each.
7. Ofcorse they where indexed?? Is that even a question. How would it be a fair test if the web2.0s weren't even indexed.

I believe you totally misunderstood the point of the test and what i meant when i said FAIR test. I have had some great feedback and have spoken to many people know that had questions to ask me over skype or even the phone and has been really helpful for all parties. I have no idea why you have to come on and randomly flame me for no reason.

If you are not interested in learning anything or working as a community to solve something, maybe you should go back to stacking shelves at the closest supermarket.

To be honnest the-kashish i would rather have a constructive converstation with you about this rather than you just flaming me for no reason. I'm sure your a smart lad so rather than puffing your chest up and trying to tell me I'm wrong, have an actual conversation with me that could be constructive and possibly someone could gain something from.

If you or anyone wants to talk or ask any questions feel free to add me on skype: SEOstyx

Due to some people randomly hating on me for attempting to aid the community I am going to be stopping this thread and the update of the penguin update on my blog.

It's a shame because I really wanted to give back to the forum for all that I have taken from it, I am not too sure why people decided to flame me but I guess that's just the way it works.

I shall carry on fully focused on my work and making money from SERPs.

Good luck all that enjoyed my attempt at helping and to all the people I spoke to, I have you all on Skype and we can carry on the communication.

Randomly hating ?
This is BHW, not the Warrior-Forum.
If you post a case-study, specially a bad like this one, with no details given, you gonna be ready to face some criticism.

Well, I guess it still turned out good for you, now you can promote all your affiliate offers on Skype without risking getting banned.

Okay dude, was nice talking to you. I gave all the information you asked for you just didn't actually read the article.

Have a good one, and go back to ppd and ranking YouTube vids

OP
Do NOT be disuaded nor disenchanted from continuing this thread.

Members here are gleaning information and it is one refreshing insight
into the recent shennanigans of the Pengiun and it's decendants.

Just try to be a little more thick skinned (I know it is hard at times)
and continue with your contribution regardless.

Discussion is healthy, and differing opinions is what a forum is all about.
be prepared for some negativity, but you are not the subject of abuse,
yes, I agree that members should not be so vocal in their points of view,
and if stated in a more constructive and less threatening manner, then
we all would be more positive and have a more meaningfull discussion.

Sorry to labour the point, but keep it alive :)
everyone will take something worthwhile away with them,
DO NOT GIVE UP.

I have had some great learnings from this test now that some time has passed I have noticed a lot of changes in the positions originally posted. I will write this up and post about it on my blog.

I will also, in around a week be testing out ways these domains could possibly be recovered or gain there rankings back.

hope all are well.

You seem smart & informed. Do you believe the whole "tiers above tier1 pass link juice & 'strengthen' tier1 pages" folklore (if that's indeed what it is)? Or do you think tier2's sole capability is to get tier1 pages indexed?

What about tier3, tier4, ..., tierX? If tiers above tier1 "pass link juice & 'strengthen' tier1" then wouldn't building out to 100 tiers all but guarantee numero-uno listing in google for the $ page?

Yes your headers fixed :), at least the OP is doing something, how many are sitting back hoping a miracle cure gets posted to save them doing any testing themselves. If he has affil links etc on the site, so what , let's be honest plenty here doing the same.

Anyway onward, to what is going on you need multiple sites using various methods, it makes sense, testing one site will take months by which time we'll be on penguin 2.1.0 . I see the usual methos working, is it because the update only affected sites in a given period of time, shuffled the serps around then it all starts again , I don't have that answer ..yet. I am constantly testing, you have to. I will say don't pack your tools or shifty techniques away yet . Ask yourself a simple question, what does google really want, I think they want as many spammy urls as possible, what do I see getting mentioned in every 2.1 thread, ah the disavow tool. Google cannot fight spam without your help, what they can do is simply turn up the dial on authority sites and make you think more has happened than actually has. Then when you ditch all your links they turn the dial back down, job done you've lost alot of links and may have to start again. Hummingbird is a different kettle of fish, it may be in some way connected ,poss based on anchor etc, it was separate update though.

Anyway I wish everyone well with their sites and don't let G grind you down. Consider the resources G has at their disposal, yet they still cannot win. Shoulders back, head high, you're a blackhatter, never say die!

May add to this, the reason that the affiliate links are on the site is to fund the case studies that i am running and posting on my blog. Not for personal profit :)
