Penguin 5 Update Learning’s so Far

I noticed that you mentioned sites with directory links were all dead in your analysis, however I would like to mention that I have a money site with mostly directory links that has been around for about 3 months and it has not been affected at all. I have seen nothing but increases so far on my sites. Of course all my sites are pretty new, however a lot of other people with new sites were hit.

Additionally I have built 95% of my links to be brand and exact match to my domain, another 4% were naked and the remaining 1% was money terms. And none have been hit at all. Not sure if any of you who were hit built at this ratio, but this is just what I have found thus far on my own sites. All I have seen thus far is upward movement. No downward at all. Additionally my onpage SEO have my targeted phrases maybe twice per article and in some cases none.

Update: I missed it and I see you mentioned sites with high PR directory links held.

Yeap, even i am seeing increase in SERPs just by doing Directory submission (on PR 1 to PR 9 only) for my new site which is just 2 months old!

Hey guys, thanks for reading and adding some input its very helpful. Could you at all give how many directories you had submitted he sites to and how good you would class the directory's as.

Thanks!

I met one dude that works for an seo company that does the seo for one of the sites, and I asked him about Penguin.
You know what his answer was?

What Penguin?

He thought Penguin was something that rolled out once, never knew there was a refresh or a Penguin 2.0.

So your point is that he's clueless? :D

Directories were medium quality to good quality. PR3+ sites with DA of 30+ in most cases requiring manual review and paid options.

Okay cool, do you know how many where placed? I will add this to my next post if possible.

Thank you so much for sharing some of your analytics here. Good to hear that social signals with High PR links and a some Web2.0s still works.

Man, my anchor text ratio is 1-2% density and I was warned by Google about spamming keywords.
Don't know what logic they use now?

Isn't it possible they warned you just to see if you changed anything, and then if you did make anchortext changes, they concluded you were in fact keyword spamming?

Google does have patents on these sorts of tactics, I believe.

Ok,read it,tell us then what type of links we should build after this update if all old strategies and link types are not working anymore.

Cant see a site ranking solely on Social signals IMO ... BUT i do not think its any coincidence that googles made G+ shares do follow creating a juicy link from social shares from their own baby

Your solution on "How To Index Any Page in 5 minutes" is Ping the URL and you have the balls to post at BHW about your Penguin 5 findings...lol

Yes it was a little guide a made a while back for a friend? If you don't want to read about the learnings we have gained from the Penguin 5 update over a few hundred domains we set up purely for testing, I'm not too sure why you are even on this forum.
