Hi sl1985.
Dear all;
We're trying to move a Facebook Page one place higher (higher than a forum in position 2).
Will backlinks actually help or do they not apply to social network sites?
Yes, backlinks will definitely help!
As the rule of a thumb states, the more good inbound links a page has, the more authoritative it looks in search engines' eyes. This same principle applies to all Facebook fan pages. Hence, we advice you to build
relevant and authoritative links to your Facebook fan page - just make sure that those links come from high-quality, relevant domains and have diverse anchor text.
Besides, you should also add a link to your 'Facebook' fan page from such channels as your website, blog, and Twitter profile, etc.. - if people like your content, they will 'like' your Facebook fan page - thus you will increase your following, which, in turn, will have positive effect on your fan page rankings.
Also,note that onpage SEO is also important for Facebook fan pages. These are the areas to focus on:
- title: it should be short and contain the name of your brand or your targeted keywords.
- meta description: should contain your fan page name and a short but informative description of it.
- H1: the name of your page - can be your brand and/or your main keywords (if possible).
And, if you business targets
local niches, it is crucially important to fill in such fields as
Address, City, State, and Zip. Plus, when promoting a page for
product-related searches, please provide info on Company Overview, Mission, and Products.
All this will help you rank your Facebook fan page higher.
Hope you find this info useful.
