American Moving To London?

If you live in the London area what would you say to an American thinking of moving there for a few years? I am a soccer (football) lover so that does influence it =].
As for money I would be getting a job but I also have low xx,xxx passive annual income that can help support me during the transition.

Unless you earn over 200K a year, don't bother. Nothing interesting here, women are all overweight. Everyone's in a rush to work, stressful place to live. Weather is shit, property in expensive. Traffic everywhere, even in the congestion zone. People are rude and inconsiderate. Look out for thieves. too many low life people on drugs.

On a positive note: ummm you could go ride the millennium wheel for 40 minutes and look at the river and old buildings, zzzz.

London does nothing for me personally, but that's just my opinion. Go to a beach in an exotic country and enjoy life while doing internet marketing. You could always watch an Arsenal game on cable TV.

Good luck though, you might like it here. I know plenty of career minded people that do.

Well, London is (must be) a very expensive place to live, that's for sure, I love the city, it's beautiful but if I were to move to UK, I would choose Ireland or Scotland, any small village with good Internet connection and a night-bar will do the job.

London is awesome I live in central London and if you've got the guts go for and it come.
I've done New York and Miami but I love London better.

Haha i have seen green street a few times which i love. What mainly interests me about London is the football, night life, and just the culture in general. I guess mainly the football because i've been debating about trying to play lower level professional in europe if i can finish my college career playing well.

I would recommend you visit London for a month or two to get a feel for it. Generally speaking it can be a great place but at the same time not so much. Different strokes for different folks. What I like about the place is the freedom and opportunities it has to offer. As a multicultural city it is very relaxed in the sense that most people mind their own business. Everything is easily accessible, public transport is very good, and your rather safe if you mind your own business and don't go walking around unknown territory during late hours.

I live in downtown LA and studied abroad in London for 6 months. It was a great experience but not sure I would like to live there, at least coming from California. The cost of living is higher, the weather (depressing), petty crime seemed to be higher (pickpockets!), the flats are expensive and tiny (200 - 300 sqft efficiency's) compared to the U.S apartments (400 - 600 sfqt efficiency's) as we call them.

Personally it would depend on where in the U.S you currently live, for example if you in Detroit then it would be a hell of an upgrade.
