I dont see the big deal, this update was pretty good for me. Most of my keywords are still ranking and now I am ranking top 5 for 10 new med - high competition keywords. This is great, just have to see if this sticks.

Another thing to remember is that this is probably included a refresh so your site may have been affected by other things:

a) dup on site content
b) overoptimization of anchor text

so be sure to rule these out as well.

Doing some more examination it appears to be mostly where your links are coming from.

is this shit is still in progress or are we done for today?

For those of you affected, how many money pages on your site were you targeting with backlinks? All my sites with 1 money page got hit, the ones with 5+ increased in rankings.

seems I have sites where I targetted 10+ pages that got hit as well

Google is ranking sh*t inner pages of the sites ... wtf

Check "buy viagra online", 3rd spot is the site of National Association for Child Care.
It finally got rewarded for great content. Thank you Google.

hahahahahahha that is some crazy shit there !

And they have only 1% BL`s for that keyword checked on ahrefs :D

Dude, look at the link profile https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/overview/subdomains/nafcc.org it just got spammed. No doubt they will inject their link in a few weeks and rank, bank, burn, refresh.

Spam works. Google update just hit all my sites....in a positive way apart from one. I suspect it's because it's in the loans industry and guess what? I don't care. I'll keep on building links and doing what I always do. It will come back, stopping link-building is what kills sites during an update. Keep going. Keep plugging on. Never stop link-building. Those taht have sites that rank hard don't even bother listening to what Matt Cunts spurts out, they just keep going, testing, working, testing, ranking, banking and laughing.

The turtles at webmasterworld still have not noticed. Also, Sarry Bwartz, Sanny Dullivan and Fand Rishkin still have not said a word. They're probably waiting for Fatt Butts to tell them what to say.

Dear industry gurus, when will you catch up with BHW?

Fu** Matt Cunt has to say just continue with your project and hope for the best =)

What I see is sites with higher than average Web 2.0 spun links got hit. I have a portion of sites that had many Web 2.0 links for diversity and they ALL got hit. The sites that had NO Web 2.0 sites and just High PR backlinks are all staying stable. At least from my portfolio this update really leaned on Web 2.0 links. Any else have similar effects

I just checked in here because I'd noticed 2 of my sites had vanished like a fart in the wind, and yes they both had web 2.0s with crap spun content, and yes they both had 301 redirects pointed at them.

Bummer.

Yep, Big hit across multiple niches. Promoted sites in different ways with diverse anchor. Saw the update starting yesterday across several datacenters. Today there was bouncing, but it is leveling out to a bloody massacre. The ONLY common thread between some sites is having incoming sidebar links from high PR sites (NOT SAPE). Thing that sucks about this update in particular is NONE of my previously hit sites rebounded. In all past updates I've seen old abandoned sites rebound some, but not this time....

Yes this is what I noted on a previous page. Some sites can handle more spam links then others based on their threshold. See the buy viagra online example some just used. Also probably goes for youtube videos, some forum pages and amazon products. I consider web 2.0 - wikis, elgg, jcow, auto-approve article directories etc. You'll find most of the links are from PR0 domains.
