Excellent pre-sales thread for your upcoming BST, nice job. We've given direct mail a few tests and it seems to work well enough to continue. The only hiccup is the minor irritation of coordinating all of the work that needs to be done by hand. Love the idea of using high schoolers for this as they're capable, inexpensive and generally need the cash.

Lots of hand work. Envelopes, stuffing, addressing, etc...but it works. It just takes a lot of mail to get a good return...and that equals a lot of hand work. If you have some people that work for you see if their kids want to make some money.
This particular mail out of 500 pieces has resulted in 1 signed deal for what we were pitching through the offer. It was a very small deal but the cost of the mail will be covered with 2 payments profit of the 6 month contract. 500 pieces is very small, but overall when I think of all the mail we have dropped a deal out of 500 is about right. Sometimes you may hit better and sometime you will crash and burn. But...a lot of these people are in contracts and if the mail piece did its job and grabbed their attention then they may have filed it away and will reach out when they need the service. As long as the cost is covered then I will continue to drop mail nonstop.
Not really a pre-sell - something that we have done/offered clients for a while now - but because of this little test we noticed a bigger demand for it and the timing seemed right - also it is simple to implement. I receive a ton of PM's from people looking for tips, ideas, etc - so I am going to give them an idea/solution that is simple - and easy to take action with. The BST that we submitted and is being reviewed right now is just a part of this method. Yes, people can use it - but some can do it on their own if they have the capability. As much as I like to make money, there does come some satisfaction with helping people that the dollar just doesn't give.

Actually a couple additional small clients were born from this mailer as well. Nothing huge though...
But it got the phone to ring a lot, which is good. Also got a list of leads that are still in contract etc - that we will market in the future.
In my eyes as long as we break even on each mailer it is fine...just builds up future calls and potential deals down the road. Someone may have received the mail and tucked it away in their desk and will reach out when they need the help or when their current contract is up.
