[3/3] - ASK ME ANYTHING - Q&A Leith

Very nice series of threads you've put together Leith.

My question: You get a new SEO client with a brand new website who wants to be "at the top of Google" for a relatively difficult keyword. What is your default stance, or what do you say you can and can't do?

Why won't you return my calls?!

The hoo...call girls ate all the dog food thinking it was tartare. All of it. It would be hilarious if my carpet wasn't resembling a used feminine pad from all the, um, bodily expulsions.

I am +1 for this question. Have a client meeting on Monday so would be nice to see what strategies you can suggest. Thanks!

Do you donate a part of your earnings to needy people?

Of course I do.

I don't have a fixed schedule of when I donate but I do donate whenever I see campaigns online. The most recent one being WaterAid.

After all, these people don't have access to basic necessities and here I am giving out methods to making money. It's only right that we donate at least something to charity. I feel good that I can donate and know that someone out there is going to get a huge benefit from it. Something little to us is the world to someone else.

Just wanted to came by and say thank you to Leith and what he is doing for the community lately, takes ages to write such detailed answers, and nothing is more valuable than time - so kudos to Leith :)

Appreciate it, yes, it's taking a lot of my time but again, this is saying thanks back to the community.

Hello Leith, thanks for contributing to the community in the best possible ways.

If you ever tried Ad$ense, I had also a topic question open but none seemed to have suggestions from their own experience, rather than some usual ones like: Very risky, 100% ban etc.

I was wondering, is there a possibility (does G allow) multiple addresses in the same bank acc for Europe... in the countries inside the European Union more specifically.

I know it could be risky, but is there a possibility for that, since I am not comfortable of letting other people have access to the money made from ads, rather I would like to keep the addresses to a trusted person's bank acc.

If that question is not worth answering, could you consider answering whether there is a Payoneer type of service for Europe, preferably Germany, Swiss etc. or something like EU general ?

Thanks a lot again, rep+ !

Sorry, I don't quite get your question. Could you rephrase it again and Il try answering it.

+ Rep
OP, I've already ranked this site in in USA and I would like to rank in other countries (FR) to be specific.
what would it be the best way to get it ranked? do I need new domain, content, backlinks etc?

Also, what do you think about "PPD" these days? IMO it looks like its getting saturated.

thanks for your time.

Hi,

If you make a new site, try and get the host registered in the place of where you want to rank. Other than that, my only advice would be to get geo specific links (such as .fr in your case) - that should do the trick.

I have not been doing much geo specific link building but generally all I do is buy the right host in the specific country and I then build my standard quality links and this does the job for me.

I left PPD a long time ago and I think it's right that you do too. There is still money you can make but in my opinion it's not good enough for the time you put in. There are far better things you can apply your time and skills into, so my advice > stay away from PPD.

This thread should be made a sticky
I hope you have the time to keep it going

Il try my best to keep going as long as I can. I am meeting - free until Monday so that should be a good few days for people to get their questions coming.

I'm a Dutch native. Interested in a JV for the Dutch Market? :)

At the moment Im not doing JV's, but thanks for the offer.

Very nice series of threads you've put together Leith.

My question: You get a new SEO client with a brand new website who wants to be "at the top of Google" for a relatively difficult keyword. What is your default stance, or what do you say you can and can't do?

If I know I can't do it, I usually say this upfront to them.

Usually, if its a new site and they want to rank to the top, I say fine, thats possible but dont expect a 1 month or a 2 month job. I make it very clear that there are no guarantees I am providing with the service and that the minimum time before you start to see any results would be 6 months (depending on the keyword of course).

I tell them that throughout their campaign with me they will see increased traffic, and definitely increased SERP movement, although I never guarantee the top positions. Too risky in this day and age.

I sometimes guarantee a certain position increase so for example.. it will increase by at least #50 or so. If its a new site, hard keyword, then Id put together a quick on page audit, show them what they need to improve and along with that Il put together a document with some of the competitor links, how much those links cost and the type of budget you are going to need to get to the top for the keyword they want.

Most people think SEO is an overnight thing, something that can be done in a few days. This is why I make it my priority to let people know that their SEO work will take time, and I usually tell them to stick for at least 3 months minimum to start seeing actual movement. 1 month is no way near enough time for good results.

If your client doesn't understand that and keeps demanding a short cut to 1 month success, send them to a spam BST (just kidding - but just don't take them on). I'd rather have a client who pays me less each month but understands the risks and basics of SEO than a client who pays me more and keeps annoying me every other day about why his rankings haven't budged.

In summary, a typical client deal goes something like this for me;

1) I speak to the client, get to know their URL, past SEO (if any) and the keywords they're after.

2) If the keywords are crap I suggest some to them. I then ask for their monthly budget.

3) Based on the keywords, age of site, competition etc, I give them a monthly quote. I do not do one time packages but I tell them that the monthly subscription can be cancelled whenever they want.

4) If they agree to the quote, I go over the terms and conditions of my service. This is stuff like link reporting, no ranking guarantees due to nature of SEO, etc etc. Usually, my clients understand this and respect it.

5) I talk them through some of the link building techniques we use but I do not divulge into too much detail.

6) I get them to sign a virtual contract so they know what they are signing up for and I take the payment.

7) Work begins and they get monthly reports of how much their ranking has changed from the previous month and I usually have a quick talk with them each month about whether they wish to continue and what we will do the next month. I also answer any questions they have.

8) Work is done for the next month. Usually, all my clients see some movement in the first month so that alone gets them to continue - but sometimes, you'll get people who can't continue. Just accept it and move on.

You kind of revived BHW with these 3 threads....
Cannot rep you as I've already done it...Cheers.

THIS NEEDS TO BE HIGHLIGHTED.

This is the sort of threads that BHW members need to be focussed on,
so in that regard, well done Leith, Thanks + reps.

Some members here start journey threads, and for whatever reason they abandon it,
and get disenchanted with the whole learning process; whereas
(although this is not a journey thread per se)
this sort of thread is MUCH more educational and practical for BHW members
from all disciplines and backgrounds.

Requests to make this a sticky justs shows how much we have all let this forum ALMOST become degenerate,
and it is encouraging to note that OP has at least bucked the trend, and offered something of value.

Lets have some more of the same please.

Once again, well done and I take my Black Hat off to you. :)

Cheers

Sorry for not making my question clear in the first place.

Do you happen to know any service similar to Payoneer (credit cards that can be used with Google also, instead of bank account), that work in Europe (European Union)? Because Payoneer is only for USA services mostly.

Thanks for the detailed answer! Very informative, and definitely going to use your advice. Keep up the awesome shares lol!

Thanks for taking your time to help out this forum. I don't have any questions right now, but the least I can do is say thanks.

How long have you been 'messing around' (trial and error) before you could make a decent living off of IM?

Also, when diving into something new that you have never done before, whether it be email marketing, member sites etc, how long does it take you to become good at it and have maximized revenue out of a system?

What the hell, I'll bite.

Where do you find your staff?

ASK ME ANYTHING,Business related would be preferred.

How many sales/turnover would be people making when opening a quality BST's like yours at bhw ?

Revenue and profit for Ghost Rank?

How did you find out about the secret blog networks? Are they in-house blog networks?

I want to start clickbank business, is there any difference in blog in blogspot and website with hosting? I mean mainly in SEO. Is website with hosting worth more work and money just for one clickbank product?

Hi mate thanks you for this thread , I got question about landing page something I never understand.
Why people said that when you use landing page the offer is more convert , lets say I do ppc with facebook I got cpa offer , 10 people click on my ads if i would do direct link : 10 people will see my offer but if i'll use landing page so 10 people will go to my landing page and some % of my 10 people will click on my landing page and go to the offer - for sure less then 10 people where I go wrong? why people say landing page is more convert?

Ah, unfortunately sorry, I don't. Maybe try asking in the Lounge.

Thanks for taking your time to help out this forum. I don't have any questions right now, but the least I can do is say thanks.

Thanks.

Oh, good question.

I've been messing around with different things for as long as months in the past. After all, it is all about testing. Keep testing. Change things up. I was making about $30/a day in the past from a website. I did a few tests and within weeks I made that number $100/a day. I am always trying out new things each day.

Before I could make a decent living of IM.. I'd say it took 2 years of hard work and dedication and a lot of motivation before I entered the safety earnings zone. I now make a decent income online and it did take me over 2 years of hard work and patience to get to this stage.

Put it this way, if I can do it, then so can you. I didn't start of as a SEO professional. 6 years ago I had no idea what a hyperlink was or what SEO stood for. Look at how far I've progressed already. You can do it too. Start believing in yourself.

What the hell, I'll bite.

Where do you find your staff?

Most the times I find my staff on freelancer sites such as Odesk. I put down a proposal and usually I get shit loads of applicants coming to us for the job. I immediately rule out anyone that starts begging in their proposal/application. I don't like those type of people.

I look out for straight forward, and relevant applicants. Those who send applications saying they can do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING.. I immediately remove them. I would prefer someone honest than someone claiming that they're the best.

After this is done, it's usually an interview via Skype, a few questions and a few tests. I do a few weeks of hiring if I like the guy or girl and I pay upon completion. If I think they did sufficient enough, Il take them and hire them on board.

How many sales/turnover would be people making when opening a quality BST's like yours at bhw ?

I can't speak for someone else and I don't want to give my numbers from my BST's but let's just say with a quality BST, you can make a decent amount of monies.

Whats the capital city of Thailand ?

Err.. Ummm.. Spain?

Revenue and profit for Ghost Rank?

How did you find out about the secret blog networks? Are they in-house blog networks?

Id like to keep the first question's answer private.

I have a few friends who I speak to every now and then (trustworthy people) and we usually share whatevers on our mind. I find out a few networks from them and I simply dig deeper. You'd be surprised at the amount of information you can find if you actually dig deep.

How do you keep motivated?

Good question because there's times where I just want to jump out of my window.

  • Find the gains you will be getting. Find the good reasons. Personal gain (money), a sense of achievement (success), or just the fact that you're nearing your main goal (money goal).. whatever it is, I tend to focus on the gain at the end. If I was doing a 3 month contracted SEO job, although Id feel like quitting half way, I tend to think of the remaining payment Il be given at the end of the job. Money can be a great motivation for many but not for all - other things that motivate me has to be my friends and family, and of course, luxuries which I would not be able to buy if I did not complete my goals and aims.

  • Another way to stay motivated is to keep rewarding yourself. I usually buy myself, what I call a quarterly treat every 4 months. This may be a new laptop, a quick holiday for a week or whatever. I like to keep myself satisfied and rewarded and this keeps me motivated. My recent purchase was a new car and this has made me more motivated than ever.

  • Find out what you're doing right. Most of the times we frown upon our mistakes and complain about it. How many times have you stopped and actually said "I've done well". This is what we should be doing more. Every time I do something amazing, I sit and applaud myself in my head. I've done something good and it's going to pay off real soon. THAT motivates me.

  • Talk to successful people. I've spoke to dozens of people of which some are millionaires, some have 10 cars, some have a great family, great houses, great knowledge and all sorts. Get yourself relationships with other successful people. Ask them questions, learn from them and ultimately, be motivated from them. Take it as an inspiration. When I first joined here, I would never have thought to be making even 3 figures a month. I've gone way ahead of that now and that is all because of the inspiration I had for other bigger senior members here.

  • Work out. I usually go the gym a few times a week (more often now than ever) and believe it or not it keeps me motivated. Knowing that I'm staying fit, and looking decent motivates me to continue getting the paper rolling into the bank. For others, your girlfriend could be your motivation. For others, your girlfriend could be the reason why you're failing at IM.

Most importantly, just think of the final result and what gain you will get. Aim big and visualise the final personal gains you will be getting and all the success that comes with it.

Hi Leith,
Thanks for helping all of us out. You've written up some fantastic material.

I've a small question relating to domains. It's recommended you have the main keyword in your domain name, but does it matter where? For example. The main keyword is "Bath Towels" but my domain is "Bath Duvet Towels . Com". How does google look at that?

Again, thanks!
