Anyone saw some improvement for their drops?
I monitored 10 keywords, all in the first 3 pages - now all are gone - not in the first 300 results. Don't know what I did wrong, but for sure this a frustrating experience for my first ever SEO experiment.

Nothing not yet. But there is definitely something going even though Google aren't saying anything. Webmaster forums are full with threads about the same thing you're talking about.
I have the same problem as you, I don't think you've done anything wrong. I build a high quality site, with high quality unique articles all written by me. Only high quality backlinks (and very few at that too). So I've definitely not done anything wrong.
I did take the time to redesign a bit of the site and tidy it up a bit. The name of my blog is still #1 but everything has dropped off the radar. Can't even find anything if I search for things in quotes, use my blog name with keywords, something is definitely amiss.
I think (hope) it'll all pop back. I heard somebody say the same thing happened to him last time there was a big update and his site came back after a week or so. I'm going to sit it out for the time being, make a few more posts and see what happens.
I haven't got any webmaster tools warning or anything. So very weird indeed.

Already seeing a crazy movement of SERPs (positive). One site went from 5k uvs to 10k overnight.

I try to find the latest update on central webmaster blog of Google, but i can't found any algorithm update. I think it will can't update.
No concrete information from Google, but some SEO news sites are reporting that something is happening and will update in a few days when they know more. The official Google Webmasters forum is littered with recent posts about websites, blogs, ecommerce sites, some of which are 8 or years old, being hit and nowhere in the SERPs. Some others, like the people here, are experiencing the opposite. Dramatic increases in SERPs. Something is definitely changing. Time will tell!
I've noticed that even if I search for my site name the first results is not my site (is Twitter profile, Facebook profile, etc) but some of the tags & category pages shown up in this search. Anyone knows if this means I got de-indexed?

Mine were too Android / iPhone app related and went from 20k to less then 5k on September 4th

I've noticed this before with some of my sites.. when they're penalized they get outranked by twitter, facebook, pinterest etc.. When they recover my site appears back at number 1 for it's site name. I use this as a gauge to tell if my site is penalized these days.
It means you got a penalty.
Hey man, I remember answering a question of yours on this subject and telling you to wait it out a day or two, how is it going? I think I replied to you 2-3 days ago, would be great to hear how you're doing as I know you were very concerned.
Google doesn't update us all the time with what they tweak or push out; they only update when a big new algorithm is pushed out, and that isn't a rule anyway; I have a feeling this is a Penguin refresh as I'm seeing lots of 301'd sites penalized, and Google is even sending out manual review notifications. Some pretty interesting chit is going on since the 21st.
Bro, Google has said that they factor in how many DMCAs a site has been sent; considering the topic of your site, you could have easily been penalized/devalued for ripping off mp3s; do not think for a second that record companies ain't browsing the net to f**k anyone ripping off their music.

Same thing is happening to me. And I see that google is giving a better ranking to big brands Amazon, ebay, brands... It's time to kill small businesses I think. FUCK MATT CUNT

everything normal here. only change i see is on some page that i am testing different manually blackhat Links building methods. (4 months old page)
From page 5 to page 1 on 3 keywords. (main keyword is #1)

Get this: People selling knock-off goods of MY product on eBay and Amazon now ranking higher than my website (EMD to boot) built around the brand and product.
