Im sorry if this has been discussed before but i just wanted a fresh intake on all views.

Blackhat:
1 Deeply blackhat - phising scams - criminal acts - hacking etc

2 fraudulent clicks - getting ppl to click things for downloads for which we dont own copyright

3 pirating software via torrents or fiverr gigs to sell or just to own (watch the next tv program or download box sets) etc

4 making backlinks via blog comments, article directories etc to boost our website you all know this method.

to whitehat and greyhat.. e.g. guest blog comments, sharing links with mutual sites etc

I guess what i am asking is this.

GG says we should do this and that etc, play ball with them, so if we dont we arent exactly breaking any laws by building back links on our

own terms, but is it immoraly wrong?

Would we go into an Apple store and steal or Macys store etc and say that because they are a coporate giant that its ok?

Is going against GG/ matt cutts terms to provide links that may well feed your family similar to going into a large department store and

stealing?

If someone builds a seo empire getting businness from other site owners by building links to gain them good serps illegal or immoral?

What if the same global websites use baclklinks via blog comments etc to boost their serps then is it ok to copy them ( i have seen this before).

Even seo by definition in GG eyes is wrong - are we taking something via fraud (backlinks to gain serps) that we shouldnt?

Going into big department stores and stealing is common place in my city and lots and lots of other cities across the globe - but are we by

defrauding google by making artificial backlinks to boost our sites any better than the common thief?

I have no presuppitions about anyone and all comments are welcomed.

Thanks.

EDIT SRY MODS I THINK THIS MAYBE BELONG TO THE LOUNGE? I TRIED TO CHANGE BUT COULDNT IF SO PLS MOVE THANKS

Are you questioning yourself or ...? Sounds like you have some doubts

I am indeed, i do have doubts and am seeking the approval of my peers, i choose this forum to discuss as this is where i am learning my trade and i view the other peoples view and arguments here very highly.

You could say i have a dilemma but i hate drama :)

edit - thanks for quick replys :)

Don't seek approval from anybody.
If you feel something is morally wrong THEN DON'T DO IT.
If you have no conscience and can live with yourself making money no matter what, then be prepared for the consequences.

Thanks for your input :)
I guess what i am asking from everyone here is to help me clarify if what i am doing by building artificial back links is morally wrong?
Then i can decide each way.

Dont get me wrong - i know of others in 3rd world countries that need to commit certain morally wrong and legally wrong acts acts just to live on a daily basis.
If i commit acts that we all ascertain are morally wrong is it ok to go ahead and build a living from them even thought they are in some eyes morally wrong but not legally wrong?

Dont get me wrong i dont feel bad for coat tailing on gg or Facebooks success - heck even facebook morally wronged others to obtain success would u agree??

Its just how can i justify building a business when the main source of my business says its wrong?

I believe in whatever color hat makes me money.

I agree but is that to your detriment?

Are you on the same level as phishing scammers and hacking thieves or are you something better than that?

If you can sleep at night knowing you have boosted your site and sold its performance against googles terms are you happy?

Or do you wonder the fact that you are possibly defrauding google?

Dont get me wrong GG is a big empire i know this and am not worried exactly what they think but if you sold something on ebay to someone else and didnt send it or tried to defruad their user are you defrauding ebay or the end user clicking on your auction pitch?

I've been seeing few thread like this before
I prefer whitehat

From what I see it seems white hat is getting harder as mostly strong brands get rewarded and obviously it is hard to create a strong brand; on the other hand black hat seems to flourish in a few select niches. But as always only the best succeed in either overcrowded spaces.

Thank you for your input.

Can you tell me this - blackhat methods = whitehat methods x 2/3/4?

In other words you can play by GGles rules BUT the difference with Bhat is you use software to automate tasks that Whites takes twice the times (sometimes 5 times the work) to make?

Think your confused.

If only that was so simple! software automation is used in white and black hat, maybe black uses more of it, sure.

ok so final question

link building via automated software > theft, warez, pirate, fraud, phising, crime, but
link buliding < white hat methds

so link building (as described above) = greyhat = its up to each individual to ascertain whether its immoral or illegal?

link building via automated software > theft, warez, pirate, fraud, phising, crime,

I'd advise you read the forums,I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about to be honest, you make blackhat sound like some henious crime that the FBI will hunt you down for a lifetime for,it's not,it's getting results which whitehat just can't do.Even big brands use blackhat

As far as SEO is concerned, I can't see how it's immoral and I've got a strong personal sense of morality, though it's not the same as the average person's morality. Google created a game and I play it, if they don't like it, they should change the game. The ball, as always, is in their court. I haven't thought about this much but i'm not harming anyone -- if anything my content ranking well has helped more people. I'm like Jesus.

I can see how things like phishing could be immoral, I personally wouldn't do it. IMO there's no point in listening to other people talk about what's right or wrong; it's really a personal decision and you already know the answer.
