Black hat vs White hat where do we stand? Please discuss..

link building via automated software > theft, warez, pirate, fraud, phising, crime,

I'd advise you read the forums,I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about to be honest, you make blackhat sound like some henious crime that the FBI will hunt you down for a lifetime for,it's not,it's getting results which whitehat just can't do.Even big brands use blackhat

I already stated i know big brands use blackhat - does that make it right?

I am not confused? i know its not a crime in itself, I am asking if using blackhat techniques are right or immoral?

Do u agree that certain blackhat techniques are illegal, some are not & some are immoral & some are not?

So if you use artifical backlinking techniques to gain serps and make a living is it immoral or is it down to your own personal judgement or does everyone agree a certain agreement that it wrong full stop?

Also some ppl would say that they arent doing any harm selling pirate software via blackhat methods of course this is wrong and i dont view it as the same as makeing artificail baclinks ( as stated above 1 is deep blackhat 4 is not so bad blackhat) If u do no1 FBI might want to get you if you do 4 gg might want to get you?

No it's not immoral, hacking is not blackhat it is hacking.I am happy to manipulate serps to make money and have no issue with that at all.If it was up to google no one would make money but them.

I agree with both posts above maybe i am over thinking about it and "If it was up to google no one would make money but them." is a very true statement.

Thanks for your input.

4 making backlinks via blog comments, article directories etc to boost our website you all know this method.
to whitehat and greyhat.. e.g. guest blog comments, sharing links with mutual sites etc
I guess what i am asking is this.
GG says we should do this and that etc, play ball with them, so if we dont we arent exactly breaking any laws by building back links on our own terms, but is it immoraly wrong?

Would we go into an Apple store and steal or Macys store etc and say that because they are a coporate giant that its ok?

Immoraly (sic) wrong?

F%ck a duck!

GG do NOT own the internet! They do not make "Internet Laws"! They are a privately owned website. They DO Not have any rights what-so-fucking-ever to tell people to not build links.

What they CAN do is decide not to put your site or URL's highly in their own website directory. That's it.
It's one website owner telling another what their criteria is for listing them in a privately owned directory they have. No more - no less.

Morals?

WTF have they got to do with this?

The other stuff you talk about is NOT SEO

SEO stands for SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION that is precisely and exactly and ONLY the practice of performing whatever needs to be done to get your site a more prominenet position in the many privately owned web directories that exist (Bing, Google, Yahoo etc)
Stealing, spoofing, piracy... they are NOT SEO in any way shape or form.
Stealing is stealing - whether you do it on the internet or by mugging someone in the high street. Legally theft is theft - end of story. THAT is morally wrong. But SEO "morally wrong" is not even a question that makes any sense never mind one that deserves a reasoned reply.

There are many reasons to make links that have sod all to do with google or even any other search engine The biggest of which is "click through" - over 50% of my traffic comes from click through from sites other than search engines - and for that you need LINKS
