Any reason that you can't set up a google voice number? I don't know about your exact situation but I imagine Google voice could be used as a work around.

I think by "they" you mean google? If so this is just the number that google voice will forward the calls and SMS too. This will not effect what you are trying to accomplish. Hope this helps and I am understanding you correctly.

I would go with text+. I am not sure if it was this app but I am pretty sure you can receive both text and call for free

Get an Android emulator like bluestacks and install pinger. Will work for sure!

What if someone is located in System32 and not is US?

Skype is associated with ebay so i wouldnt touch it just ot be on the safe side.I suggest using one of those forwarding numbers online , you get a number and you forward it to your cell and you can receive calls and sms too , someone posted a link to one of these sites above in this thread just google it you will find more.
