I will try to keep it short.
I had a website to be SEOed 2 months back. I gave it to a so called "SEO Company" in my town. A best friend of mine who is also a partner with me in my venture, adviced me to give this company a try. So I gave them relatively easy niche to be ranked. A medium competition for the keywords I gave them. The niche is a fake one to be monetized with CPA offers. And I agreed to pay 140USD. They asked for a time of 1.5 months with every week report.
Every week I had to ring them about my report, and they made some excuses. Ocassionally they gave me a report which is no more than a SHIT. The only "SEO" they know is "Directory Submission". They submitted my website to some 30-50 web directory over this course of 1.5 months and even those are "pending approval".
I got pissed by that report and decided to meet the guy whom they appoint to do SEO for my website. I asked few questions to him and that "SEO E-X-P-E-R-T" failed in every aspect. Let me tell you his expert-SEO knowledge:
- Did not know what a Page Rank of website means. (yes he called himself seo expert
)
- Did not know what is tier link building.
- Did not know how to index a backlink.. infact when I asked him how do you index the backlinks, he made a confused face asking- what on fucking earth is it?
- Asked him how many web 2.0 you will make: No Fucking idea what a web 2.0 is.
I am no SEO expert myself yet i know these terms. The funny thing is, even then I did not realise that these people are scamming me. Then, I gave him some tips to do it in a proper way. Told him do some web 2.0 submission. Explained him few things.
After entire 1 month: When I called them, they said: "Sir we need content to do this Web 2.0. We did not know that people charge money for writing content. So either you provide us content, or pay extra for it."
I was so damn pissed at this statement. Told him stop doing it, I will hire someone else. I do not regret for those 140$ I lost but the 2 months time those motherfuckers wasted.. hurts a lot. I could have done it better myself, or even better: buy a service from BST. Damn.
Lesson Learnt: Do not trust mere words, take test.. even when your best friends are to be questioned.
