Yes this is fraud, whether it's a crime and how serious it is depends on your region.

Yeah man I tried it once.
It worked a TINY bit for me. But for others it works wonders, and still others it does nothing for them. I guess it all depends on the person (and their friends) who shares your status/ photo. A lot of people don't believe this anymore. It's best to share it on a page called ".Apple.Computers-" or something like that. I've seen that happen and the photo absolutely blew up!
It's not a crime (at least I don't think it is). If it was a crime then there would be some serious questions raised about the wasted time an officer would put in to catching these Facebook updates. There is no damage to the state done and no-one is getting robbed of any money. It's only a like.

Its not a crime at all. No one at all knows that you are giving away nothing to a fake profile. Iphones work wonders for a prize also. Go for certain niches like golf and giveaway a set of Ping Clubs, build a nice page about golf and profit

Its not really a crime, but if you are planning to build up an authority website and people get to find out that you have given out any prizes for real, it would badly affect your reputation.
Also, once the giveaway is over, a lot of people would start unliking your page.

Pretty much this.. they have no real way of proving it. Even if they can prove the account in question is fake they would need probable cause to get a search warrant to pull ips from the internet companys.. All in all you're fine they aren't going to waste time on such a petty crime that would require as much effort as it would require unless you're profiting millions of dollars off of it or something.
