How Facebook's fake likes cost charities thousands


Sum up; A charity buys $10k worth of ads via facebook and gets 500k likes to his fan page. He posts on his wall to try to get his "targeted" fans to download a software he has developed but soon finds out a BIG chunk of the fans are from fake accounts.

My conclusion; Facebook does NOT have a revenue share program (as far as I know) like adwords/adsense, so any clicks that are made by fake accounts are not generated by publishers that want to increase their "adsense" rev...right?

So that mean's the fake accounts are made by FB and their team because they are the only ones making any money out of the clicks. They can not say someone is sitting there creating fake accounts and using those fake accounts to click on ads - what would be the purpose of that? No... the only logic is that FB is scamming.

Can a site where people go for shitting and trolling make any money? NO. Even if it makes it can't make 100 billions right?

Unless they adhere to blackhat practices, they cant be revenue positive and match their valuation.

All the channels of making money, promote your posts, promote your pages' post to our OWN fans etc is basically a bait and switch tactic, and should come under FTC scanner. When businesses invested tons of $$ on FB PPC ads to make people like their pages they never knew fb will go down to these resorts to extort money lol.

That is why we prefer to fuck FB and not play by the rules, cause they don't play by the rules themselves and fuck innocent businesses

1. Pay for ads to get likes
2. Pay again each time you want to reach all those paid likes

I believe the main problem is that they have lots of users (now we dont even know how many but I would say at least 250 millions) but they arent interested in buying while using Facebook. I think I never opened a fb ad except for something that would look stupid so I was just curious. And never liked anything. So the problem with FB is that people dont want to spend money buying stuff from there or going to other websites, they just go to chill out with their friends but not to get more information.
Using Google, you always want to find something, so they are able to put their ads there, and thats where they connect you with websites about it. So thats why it works. I believe Google adwords fake clicks too, but FB probably fakes 95% of them.

But I do think that maybe 20% of the clicks are from fake users - but it's hard to prove something like that unless you really dig deep into it.

Exactly. They can't run away if they fake clicks up to 95% but eventually no matter what the ratio of fake clicks is, the thing here is Why should they do it? Scamming the innocent business folks because they have lots of money isn't really the best possible reason.

They have to do it to keep upto their stock market valuation.

They got themselves give away to the greed of wall street and went public at an insane valuation.

Now they have to keep upto investor expectation or else they will get a beating at the stock market which is very harsh and is like a downwards spiral for any company.

Big corporations have fallen under the greed of wall street, facebook is nothing, it has no meat in its business model.

No one likes to click on those stupid ads. Unless they really really figure out a viable business model out of their huge userbase, they have to resort to every evil practice to survive the wrath of their valuation.
